So is Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Aniston.

It's really bizarre. Women in Hollywood these days just look the same until their fifties. And some stay hotter even past that. I remember the days when a woman turned 40 and she was immediately deemed sexless by Hollywood. Hell, ageism still happens at 30 (look at how Anne Hathaway just disappeared overnight once her younger "successors" like Jennifer Lawrence got all the roles that would have once gone to her), but some of these women just keep getting work after 40 nowadays.
There's definitely a point where age catches up with people and they begin to lessen in beauty in they eyes of the majority and that's not inherently a bad thing, we have evolved to find young healthy people sexually attractive, that potentially millions of years of ingrained evolutionary instinct is not going to just disappear, many women who I personally found to be ridiculously beautiful in my teens and twenties now do nothing for me (Cameron Diaz for example),

I also believe that there is a 'perfect time' when a person is at their most beautiful (I look at Angelina Jolie now and although she's obviously attractive I'm not attracted to her in the way I was back when she was making the Tomb Raider movies)
I do know 50 isn't old but it still 'feels' that way in my head, so when I see someone like Lucy Liu who's nearly fifty and yet looks so young and beautiful it still shocks me.

-Cheese is a friendly, helpful roden ally of the Fairies at Pixie Hollow, frequently powering machines by spinning in a wheel, or just pulling tiny Fairy Chariots around. He's happy and semi-sentient, like most non-predatory animals. A real Mouse is too small to even be a threat to a human being, but in Pixie Hollow, they're basically super-strong Plowhorses, good for manual physical labor. And apparently they provide sustenance to the Fairies, being the source of milk & cheese (UGH!!!).

-Rats, unlike Mice, are horrible, Satanic red-eyed demons in the world of Disney Fairies, and attacked Tinker Bell during her search for the magic wish-granting mirror... well because Rats are evil assholes, I guess. One was later seen on the pirate ship in The Pirate Fairy, but temporary-Animal Fairy Rosetta was able to politely ask it to leave, and it complied. She was gracious to the "mouse", until Fawn pointed out the actual species. She did not take it well.

-Tink & Terence basically ran off to avoid these Rats (one easily disarmed Terence of his makeshift "sword"- the needle of a compass), implying they are FEARSOME opponents. And I guess that makes sense, given that to a Fairy, a Rat is the size of a freaking Hippopotamus!

-Hawks is the world of Tinker Bell are basically super-evil death machines that fly out from the sky and eat bugs, mice and Fairies alike- since those are all FRIENDLY creatures in this world, it makes Hawks out to be the villains. Oddly, bunny-killing creatures like weasels & martens are considered ultra-great and friendly, and Owls are friendly helpers (especially to the Fairies of the Winter Woods), but Hawks? Hawks are EEEEEEEEEEVIL. One is seen in the first film nearly skewering Tink & Vidia, and only the advanced Fairy Warning System of Scouting Talent Fairies are capable of saving the day- they throw stones, nuts and fruit at the Hawks until they pestered animals leave.

THE PIRATE FAIRY (2014):
-The most-recent (and arguably most-promoted) of the series features Christina Hendricks as Zarina, a Tinker Bell-like inquisitive genius who gets into some trouble. Zarina is fired as a Dust-Keeper after an accident with Pixie Dust Alchemy (which is TOTALLY forbidden), and ends up returning a year later with the most bitching outfit in history and a band of PIRATES as her new friends. Along with a cabin boy named James (Tom Hiddleston), whose identity is TOTALLY SPOILED BY ALL THE TRAILERS AND EVEN THE DVD'S BOX, she steals all of the Blue Pixie Dust and threatens all of Pixie Hollow. When the Hero Party comes to save the day, Zarina zaps them with a handful of multi-colored Pixie Dust and leaves them with their Talents switched- Tink is Water, Sil is Fast-Flying, Rosetta is Animal (and therefore covered in gross bugs), Fawn is Light, Iridessa is Garden and Vidia, to her classic horror, is a TINKER!

Watching Vidia struggle with "thinking like a Tinker" ("okay, height and weight ratio is good, and if I can only find some ROPE... *GASP*!"), complete with Fawn making fun of her ("You're THINKING LIKE A TINKERRRRRRRRRRR!!!"), is a highlight. Also nice to see they didn't cut Vidia's balls off by making her a good-guy, either. The Talent Switching is funny because that could easily be the theme of a whole movie or 22-minute thing, but instead is just the backdrop for a bigger story here. We get one of the few in-story songs (complete with Tom Hiddleston's singing debut), and James the Cabin Boy & Zarina's adorable relationship is detailed. It's SO FRIGGIN' CUTE to watch him basically fawn over this tiny little Pirate Fairy (he's the only one who can understand her bell-ringing speech), dance with her in the song, treat her with some nice dessert, and be taught how to fly. That scene where she gives him flying lessons, while gently teasing him the entire time? GAHH... I ship this so hard.

Which is all the more tragic when it's cut short and he reveals the... PLOT HOOK (*rimshot*). I mean, ya knew something was coming (he's CAPTAIN HOOK, for God's sake!), but it's still sad and a bit of a shame to see it all end like that, and have it revealed to all have been a ruse. So now Zarina's got to team up with the Main Party in order to take back the Blue Pixie Dust and save Pixie Hollow. Oddly, the issue of her BETRAYING THEM ALL in the first place never comes up again- we're just supposed to assume it's all cool now ("let's just say we're offering you quarter"). Even Fairy Gary is just happy to have her back, and everyone's all "oh, now Pixie Dust Alchemy is awesome".

What's funny is that the Fairies' Talents are now used as authentic SUPER-POWERS for the first time, despite being in the hands of amateurs. Fawn uses the Light Talent as a combination Laser Weapon and Dazzle attack, the Garden Talent is using seaweed to hold A PIRATE SHIP down, and Tink's Water Talent is creating these HUGE waves! A far cry from picking up tiny dewdrops and moving some sunbeams around. And then we get a SWORD FIGHT between Zarina and CAPTAIN HOOK. And a fight using SUPER-POWERS from the other Fairies! Being a Tinker Fairy also allows Vidia to be a master ass-kicker and Sokka-like plan creator, as she disarms the Asian Pirate and gets him to snap a rope that gets him squashed by a ton of barrels.

The animation has been given a distinct upgrade by this point- the human beings don't look so weird, and Fairies look less odd in still shots. However, Zarina's got a bit of a weird face- it was like they wanted her to look more natural than the more cartoony pixies elsewhere, but ended up over-animating her face, giving her an odd feel. Really, most people don't move their eyebrows about CONSTANTLY like that, and her more-realistic face makes it worse. Though this gets better as the movie progresses, like they perfected it as they went along. The mouths of the two muscular Pirates move funny, too- like their angular, immobile heads make for poor mouth animation. Very peculiar. That said, the facial reactions of the Fairies has never been better, especially Rosetta's constant disgust at animals clinging to her, and Vidia's horrors at Tinkering while she's alternately enraged at Fawn's jibing her.

Surprisingly, the fifth movie in the series is actually the BEST one, as we get the best interaction amongst the girls, and the best action sequences. The animation and the Scenery Porn (big shots of Never Land, and a REALLY show-offy effect once they all get their Talents back and put on a show for the other Fairies) are at an all-time high as well, and we get some fun new characters. Aside from the... easiness of the way things wrapped up (it would have been nice to have Zarina have second thoughts about helping the Pirates... you know... RAID CIVILIZATION AND STEAL THINGS, and instead join the Fairies against them- it always makes the Face Turn look weak when the Heel turns on them, rather than the Heel changing of their own volition), the movie is a highlight.

-Zarina is the central character of The Pirate Fairy and OH MY GOD HAS THE GREATEST DESIGN EVER. Look at her tiny little knee-high boots! And her little hairpin sword and the itty-bitty skirt! It's friggin' adorable! Plus the whole temporary-outfit that was a big pirate's cloak & a bad-ass hat, all Fairy-sized. Amazing.

-Zarina was a Dust-Keeper Fairy bored with her lot in life, and endlessly curious about the nature of Pixie Dust. She would frequently annoy her boss Fairy Gary over the rules and regulations of the stuff ("Why twenty-six specks? Why not twenty-FIVE? Or twenty-SEVEN?"). One day, she stole away a single speck of Blue Pixie Dust (the kind that replicates anything- allowing the Pixie Dust Tree to make more of the dust that allows all Fairies their magic and flight), and used this for her experiments, which had until then been failures. See, she'd only been using REGULAR Pixie Dust, and not the BLUE stuff, so her attempts to dye various new kinds was a failure. But by adding pieces of BLUE Dust to her concoctions, she was able to reproduce OTHER FAIRIES' TALENTS. For example: putting rose petals into a solution would turn the Dust PINK, letting her mimic the Plant Control of the Garden Fairies! Turning it purple gave her wind powers, blue water powers, and more! Alas, she pulled a "Tinker Bell" (While Tink was in the room no less) and added too much to a single plant, resulting in a MASSIVE overdose that destroyed a chunk of Pixie Hollow, AND the Dust-Keepers' building! Fairy Gary fired her (not sure how that works in a Communist society- would she just starve to death?), and she left Pixie Hollow for an entire year.

-Zarina eventually returns as a PIRATE CAPTAIN, leading a band of merry dorks to steal the Blue Pixie Dust and try to jump-start their OWN Pixie Dust Tree, allowing them to operate "A Frigate That Flies". She has the most adorable relationship ever with the Cabin Boy named James (she playfully teases him while teaching him to fly and it's SO CUTE!), who naturally turns out to be CAPTAIN HOOK, and a giant traitorous douche. The whole tale kind of exists as a Mirror Image thing towards Tinker Bell, as she does the same stuff (breaking the rules, sneaking around, doing new things and inventing stuff), but takes it just a LITTLE bit too far, like planning on leading a Pirate Crew to rob the world of all it's riches- she laughs along when her crew describe stealing the Mona Lisa, Egypt's mummies, the Sistine Chapel's ceiling (is one of their last names Sandiego or something?) and England's Crown Jewels. She's offered "quarter" despite her attempted crimes, even though she never really did a proper Face Turn (she was turned on BY the other bad guys! Her redemption was basically just fighting against people who tried to kill her!), and was welcomed back with open arms. Well, at least she grew the Fairies another Pixie Dust Tree.

-Zarina is an INCREDIBLE bad-ass of a Fairy. Keep in mind these people treat rats & hawks like deadly adversaries, can't lift small blocks of ice without a team, and need MICE to carry their gear. Zarina? Zarina fought CAPTAIN FREAKING HOOK in a SWORD-FIGHT. She performed a cross-block with a hairpin sword (not a sword the size of a hairpin- an ACTUAL HAIRPIN she used as a sword!), then FORCED HOOK BACK. She must be like the Mike Tyson of Fairies or something, because that's CRAZY power! Even WITH a Hero Point that's a hell of a feat. She's not very insightful, as she's easily led-astray (Hook's a pretty good liar, but the buffoons in his CREW?)- "Fairies are such GULLIBLE creatures!"

-Then there's her Alchemical genius- a large part of it was just creating dyes and then using the magical Blue Dust as a catalyst, but she's still way ahead of most other Fairies. And it gives her a bag full of magical Dust to use as a weapon- changing Fairies' Talents (and dresses!) around, or just copying the Talents of others.

THE FRIGATE THAT FLIES

Highlights:

* Zarina's adorable pirate dance.
* Silvermist MIMICKING THE DANCE, even though they're supposed to be hiding.
* James & Zarina doing a dance together.
* Zarina's "ARRRRR!!!" saving the Blue Dust from being stolen back.
* LOKI SINGS!!! Hilariously, the "Making Of" shows him in the recording studio, and he's singing so hard the veins are practically bursting through his temples, but the animation simply shows him casually singing like it ain't no thing.
* "Although now that you mention it, why are we taking orders from some FAIRY, anyway?" *sword pins his mustache to the wall* "ahh-heheheehhe... ONE-TWO-THREE-FOUR! *continues singing*"

Some of the best scenes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tp3oCJ6ukLY

HAHAHAHAH Silvermist: "Oh my Gosh- Zarina SWITCHED OUR HEADS!!!"

Rosetta's face when the bugs kiss her is glorious. But Vidia's dawning horror and disgust over being a TINKER FAIRY is the best.

"AAAAARRRRRRGGGHHHHH!!"

-Vidia's increasing rage is spectacular to watch. It's so funny when she's just losing it because everyone else is being annoying :).

I was just going to leave it alone and leave you to your masochistic fantasies, but hey, if you really want I can happily go on a me-esque rant. But the kind of verbal castigation it would include would probably just turn you on and I only like you as a friend.
A-are you sure you don’t want to throw something at me, disregard my opinions, call me an idiot... then tenderly hold me like you actually appreciate me deep-down? Because I... I wouldn’t mind that.

-James the Cabin Boy is advertised on the very back of the DVD case as "The future Captain Hook", so it ain't exactly a surprise when he turns out to be a dick. Alas, it put to end a very cute relationship, but what can you do? He's CAPTAIN HOOK.

-Hook is curiously a LOT more competent and dignified as a youth than he ever was as an adult- in Disney's Peter Pan, he's an easily-beaten buffoon who's always freaking out, whining, bellowing or just plain being defeated. In The Pirate Fairy, he retains his composure until the very end when he's beaten, he acts much more wisely, and he's able to keep up a pretty deep ruse for a long period of time. And he can sing like a mofo, too! It's basically two entirely different characters, here. In "our" world, he's a simple PL 7 Swordsman build, but to a Fairy, he's an overwhelming threat- depending upon whose world you're using as the basis for the statline, Hook can be a simple nobody or a PL 11 Giant doing an insane amount of damage. He's not SO overwhelmingly-strong that he can't be defeated, but he's definitely a harder hitter than any Fairy (as he or any other man-sized creature has easily held a Fairy in their grip).

-The five buffoonish Pirates in the film are pretty silly-looking, but distinctive, which you don't always see in a show that uses Henchmen. Oppenheimer's a scrawny little old man who's also the cook; Port is a lanky, hideous sort; Bonito is an Ambiguously Brown brute with a Spanish accent, Starboard is a big fat slob, and Yang is a beefy Mongolian-looking guy with twin swords. They're a bit different from each other in reality, but to a Fairy, they're all pretty much the same Giant-Sized Dude. The poor Fairies can't really get much done in straight-up combat against them- Yang himself easily fends off Tinker Bell & Vidia, with his bare hands bending their hairpin-swords. However, careful tactics and some battle planning from new "Tinker Fairy" Vidia saves the day- Fawn starts firing Laser Beams through a periscope (enhancing them) and Yang is disarmed with a swinging sail hook, while Vidia & Zarina manage to flip the flying ship over, dumping everyone into the water.

Movie 5

TINKER BELL AND THE LEGEND OF THE NEVERBEAST:
-This is the latest (and probably final) Disney Fairies movie, and it's a weird one for several reasons. Naturally, Pixie Hollow is doomed again, but this is the first movie in which Tink plays a SECONDARY role. FAWN, a supporting character in every other movie (often with few lines) is suddenly pushed to the forefront, with a new VA (Ginnifer Goodwin) and a whole new look to match! This actually goes unnoticed in the film, which is odd- a big to-do was made of the last bunch of movies having Tink get a new outfit for the duration. Alot of women have complained about turning the tomboyish Fawn, who normally wears a tunic and shorts, into another thin fairy sporting a tiny dress made of flower petals and insect wings (though considering bugs are sentient on Neverland, that's a tad... goulish), but it'll probably sell a lot more dolls, as it's an INCREDIBLE design, turning her into one of the best-looking Fairies.

The movie is centred around Fawn discovering a creature she calls Gruff- a well-designed critter who's building a series of big rock towers for some reason. We find out that there's a giant prophecy about this "NeverBeast" destroying Pixie Hollow ever 972 years, and the Scout Fairies, led by Nyx (Rosario Dawson) get called in to investigate. The hardcore, serious, pragmatic Nyx is always annoyed at Fawn, who is jovial, goofy and causes trouble by frequently bringing dangerous animals into Pixie Hollow for rehabilitation- this makes them an obvious Shipping Pair (super-serious tomboy in a sharp-looking pantsuit and a girly-girl flighty type), and drives the conflict, as the Scout Fairies are legendary animal ass-kickers, able to fend off anything (which they helpfully do in the "Show, Don't Tell" beginning, when they fight off a series of Hawks drawn in by Fawn helping out a baby Hawk.

Fawn gets to know Gruff, learns his habits, and the two form a close bond. Fawn REALLY gets a new-ish personality in here- she was always a more rough-and-tumble kind of Fairy before, but now she's got a very "Tinker Bell"-esque troublemaker/rebel aspect, acting like a goof-off and causing problems. Soon, her Fairy buddies get involved and try to help out with their token handful of lines each- a few get some key moments. Silvermist is hilarious as always- "Everyone, say hello to Gruff!" *every gasps in horror at the giant beast* "HI, GRUFF!!!". Or her goofy clapping when Fawn announces the name of her plan "Gruff-A-Go-Go". Vidia (*sigh*, my sweet grouchy Vidia...) gets a few laughs with her usual crabby aplomb (Gruff sneezes and Rosetta's all "EW! My MOUTH was open!", Vidia: "It's ALWAYS open!"). But I can see why some of the reviewers, unfamiliar with the series, groaned at the "Cast of Tokens" with one personality trait each (since that's all you get to show when their roles are so small). Oddly, there's way more uses of the words "death" and "Kill" in here- I'm fairly sure there isn't mention of this in the prior movies- kid-related stuff generally avoids those terms.

Predictably, everyone is WRONG about Gruff, and Fawn is RIGHT, and he's just misunderstood, like most Disney Outcasts tend to be. And it turns out there's a HUGE disastrous storm every thousand years or so, and only Gruff can stop it with a remarkable shapeshift, providing some great special effects. The ending is actually quite sad and effective, with good "sad" acting from Goodwin (who I find unimpressive on Once Upon A Time, but then, she's kind of playing a weak character in that show, with little to do), and great animation (especially with tears, which are NOTORIOUSLY-difficult to animate properly).

The songs are quite a bit better in this movie- and there's quite a few as well. And for some reason, the credits are SUPER-LONG. Like nine solid minutes of them. The animation is the highest-quality I've seen in the series- the past seven years have been pretty great in terms of advancement for the Fairies. The first couple films are NOTICEABLY bad for feature-films, whereas this one could easily fit as a theatrical production. The character animation is some of the best ever, too, with Fawn emoting very well, and having a ton of cute little hand motions to go along with her new characterization (like the "YOU guys destroyed Sunflower Meadow" "... *rapidly points* HE DID IT". Overall, it's good, but not one of the best movies- I would say The Pirate Fairy and The Great Fairy Rescue are better, but it's around where The Secret of the Wings is. It's VERY odd, though- given how every other movie is all about Tink (save Pirate Fairy, where she shares screen time with the Anti-Heroic Zarina), that Tink is reduced to a mere support role here. And it's a REALLY small role- Fawn has several times the amount of screen-time.

Curiously, both Periwinkle & Zarina, major characters in the last two movies, don't appear AT ALL here (even though part of the movie takes place in Winter Woods, and no Fairies attempt to get the "Frost Covering" on their wings). In fact, neither do Clank & Bobble (their first film without an appearance), Fairy Mary, Terence (Tink's sorta-love interest), Fairy Gary or pretty much ANYONE ELSE aside from the main girls & Queen Clarion! Virtually the entire movie is a "Pixie Hollow Action Scene, Fawn & Gruff, Exposition about Legends, Action Climax, Ending"- there's so little of the day-to-day life aside from what the Animal Fairies are doing. It's a very tight-focus on one subject, which is definitely odd for this series, which is generally all over the place.

Like I said, this is possibly/probably the final Disney Fairies movie. And thus probably the end of the franchise, as we haven't seen a book in forever (aside from a few Reprint Collections of the smaller books). Apparently DVD sales have been down- Wikipedia has a list, and shockingly The Pirate Fairy only made HALF of what it's predecessor, The Secret of the Wings, did- this is especially strange because the former is a MUCH better movie, and focused on a pair of celebrities in the cast. I think adding Tink's SISTER to the canon must have drawn in a huge audience, because that was the most-profitable movie. And Merch sales went down, too- people stopped buying the new dolls (every store I went to had TONS of Zarina & Periwinkle dolls just lying around in hidden corners, while the Princesses & Frozen stuff is naturally everywhere. Though I've heard ANOTHER side that they had a seventh & eighth movie planned, but dropped those because of "story problems"- I'm more liable to believe that they just decided to end it due to sales, though- there was a last big push for the franchise with a new Fawn doll and a ton of "Gruff"-related stuff, and they've already shut down "Pixie Hollow" at Walt Disney World.

It's kind of too bad, since I've only been into it for like SIX MONTHS, so it feels like I got into it, rented and watched all the movies in like a month, then watched a good-sized chunk of the Animated Shorts (though I think I've missed out on lots of those- I should re-check), and now all of a sudden there's nothing left. Better than MOST franchises get, I suppose, and it's BEEN six or seven years so far. "Pixie Hollow" is gone from WDW, but Disneyland still has their version (makes sense- it's a pretty sizeable, permanent Meet & Greet Area, not just some room in a random building)- I wonder how long it'll stick around, as little kids would probably begin to wonder who all these random people are around Tinker Bell. Tink herself will naturally always be around- she has BY FAR the most merch and statues of any Disney character (there are some Disney Merch areas that have entire shelves JUST for her tiny statues).

The deleted scenes are pretty forgettable but for a few moments. Heh- one actually reveals her debuting her new outfit, and Vidia gets a classic Vidia-esque line ("Are we sure that's really her?") that hangs a lampshade on her massive redesign. Fawn waking all the tired Fairies up for a mission gets a classically-grouchy Vidia screaming "WHAT?", then slowly realizing she's still holding her teddy bear, which she immediately hides. That would have been the greatest moment in the entire movie if they'd kept it! And curiously, Mel B (of the Spice Girls) plays Nyx's ally Scout "Fury" in the British version, but we get an unknown actress instead. Given that the character has all of three lines, I'm amazed they would even bother to switch them up. Maybe there's an issue with pay there, or they wanted to advertise more heavily in England (where they played the film earlier, and in a few theatres as well).

It also comes with this great Animated Short (oddly ripping the melody from the one Animaniacs song): [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vM32AWfs8K0]Fawn sings the Animal Group Names[/i] (some great animation, and Fawn moving her hips to the slithering of snakes = daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn.... can... can you break a Blu-Ray player by over-using the Slo-Motion? Just asking. Also, Vidia's hilariously-unimpressed look at 0:40 is great, as is her "WTF?" expression at the end)

-Fawn's about as much of a tomboy as you're likely to be when you have fairy wings and an outfit made out of flowers. She's a fairly-generic friendly-pal sort of character, and is generally seen helping out animals. Animal Talent Fairies have this odd role where they are in charge of ensuring animals go where they need to, hibernate at the right time, and make the right migrations. This has the effect of making every animal in the world look REALLY, REALLY STUPID, because they somehow have no instinctive ability to do these things THEMSELVES. She's a part of the Main Cast, yet tends to do the least in terms of moving the plot forward- she also got the earliest Voice Actress change, replacing Ugly Betty star (and starlet you'll never see again) America Ferrera with Angela Bartys in the second film. Fawn tried to help Tink learn to be an Animal Fairy in the first film (training baby birds to take their first flaps didn't work out well), and aided in taming the Naturally Evil Cartoon Cat in the third one. Her tomboyish traits seem more because she has the trademark Tomboy Ponytail and a relatively-physical Talent (it involves a lot of running and keeping along with the animals of Pixie Hollow), as well as wearing shorts constantly instead of the usual dress or miniskirt. She was fairly racially ambiguous at first, looking a bit darker than the others, and sporting freckles, but she got lighter with each successive movie, until her starring role, in which she was basically lily-white and looked like a whole different person.

-Of the Main Cast, she's arguably the most Normal One- she's not stupid (Sil), fussy (Ro), bitchy (Vidia), trouble-seeking (Tink) or constantly-scared (Dessa). This sort of makes her a background character, which is all the more surprising, because the sixth movie in the franchise stars HER as a major character! The Legend of the NeverBeast will showcase her meeting and helping out some kind of rare giant creature (looks bear-sized), probably against a World That Hates & Fears It. In this, she's voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin, who I don't think is really that famous, aside from a supporting role on Once Upon a Time. I kinda feel bad for her V.A. Angela Bartys, being turfed out in favor of a celebrity (something that's a source of friction in V.A. circles, as celebs now get almost ALL of the big roles in film). But really, Ginnifer KILLS IT in the role, successfully making her very entertaining, endearing and optimistic in spite of danger all around her. Her success hear leads well to her role as Judy Hopps in Zootopia- it's entirely possible Disney was seeing how she'd handle the role here.

-She's... a fair bit different in The Legend of the Neverbeast. Oddly, it's CENTERED around her- Fawn becomes the only character in the franchise to outdo TINKER BELL as the major character! In so doing, she actually adopts a rather Tinker Bell-like personality- a penchant for trouble-making curiosity and endangering others because of it. She's goofy and silly, makes funny gestures (when the others ask if she destroyed something important, with picture-perfect timing, she stalls then shoots her finger out towards Gruff- "... He did it"), and is very emotional about her beloved animals. Her massive redesign is odd, because she was so tomboyish before- freckled, squat and with a single long braid- NOW she's wearing a suit made out of flowers and butterfly wings. Many fans were quite put out that the ONLY tomboy in the group was now the girliest-looking one. But really... that's a "Toyetic" design. RIDICULOUSLY so, as now she's the only one in a multi-hued outfit, and the only one with a lot of detail- everyone else is wearing plain, one-color outfits and now Fawn is dressed like beautiful butterfly, complete with wings for a skirt and a very detailed top. Vidia even cracks wise in a Deleted Scene "Are we really sure that's even her?"- it's so different that watching it for the first time, you'd think Fawn was the main hero and everyone else were her plainer sidekicks.

-She also might be Latina- since Ferrera was, and because the cast looks very much By Committee, people assumed as much, though her other V.A.s are white. Bartys is a bit odd to me, because she has the shortest IMBD page EVER for a V.A. (most of them work on several shows A MONTH. She only has eight titles), and doesn't even have a Wikipedia page! Yet looking at her IMBD Page, she's actually smokin' hot. A trend with the V.A.s for these girls.

-Fawn is a bit fightier than the other girls (Animal Handling involves a lot of wrangling), and has the best Comprehend Animals of all Fairies, owing to her Talent, but otherwise lacks their flashy powers. She can't use Animal Control or anything like that (She needed catnip to tame Lizzie's nasty pet cat), and even struggles to wake a sleeping Marmot just before the Winter Woods.

-Nyx is the primary antagonist of The Legend of the NeverBeast- a stern, serious Scout Fairy who is determined to protect Pixie Hollow at any cost. Her and her Scouts watch carefully for signs of Hawks and other predators, call an alarm, and then team up to fight the animals, generlally by laying traps or throwing nets on them. They wear very nifty striped uniforms, giving them a cool design that looks both stylish and bad-ass. She's voiced by Rosario Dawson, which is a bit of an unexpected Celebrity Voice, as she hasn't really been a "name" for a long time- she had a brief push after her nude scene in Alexander blew people's minds (it sure as hell wasn't her role as Valerie in Josie and the Pussycats), and that resulted in numerous roles in various "Nerd" movies (Clerks 2, Sin City), but things didn't really work out (like a lot of ethnic women in Hollywood, there wasn't a lot of work out there). Dawson gives her a pretty angry voice that's utterly-lacking in humor, which is pretty well perfect for the character.

-Nyx is mainly meant to get mad at and lecture Fawn, who is now "endangering Pixie Hollow" by bringing in predatory animals to care for (in the opening scene, Fawn is releasing a rehabilitated baby Hawk into the environment- the Hawk's cries call a bunch of ADULT Hawks, who then nearly kill a ton of Fairies. This sets off an antagonistic relationship, as Nyx is now hunting the mysterious "NeverBeast", which turns out to be Gruff, the innocent-seeming animal that Fawn is now caring for (despite being told not to do that again!). So you have Nyx the grouch lecturing Fawn the immature, good-natured girl, and I'll be damned if that ain't Yuri Shipping material, right there. When Nyx finds out that Gruff is part of a legend that involves the destruction of Pixie Hollow (via some old scrolls), she sets out to capture and remove the creature, but Fawn declares him innocent and tries to protect him- the resulting squabble nearly dooms everyone, and Nyx learns the error of her ways in the end.

-Nyx is a BAD-ASS, much like Zarina from The Pirate Fairy. In the film, she manages to use Interpose and take out a FREAKING HAWK, just by flying in and jamming her Staff into its open mouth. She then physically HOLDS IT BACK, and sets off numerous other nets and traps in order to see off the other birds. The entire Scout Fairy team are like a bad-ass military unit (Bad-ass FAIRIES, no less) that engage in rapid-fire teamwork in order to tie up, net or otherwise lure away the various evil Hawks that threaten Pixie Hollow.

Scout Fairies also use some "Nightshade Powder" stuff, but only sparingly
"Nightshade Powder" Affliction 10 (Fort; Fatigued & Impaired/Exhausted & Disabled/Asleep & Visually Unaware) (Extras: Ranged, Cumulative, Extra Condition, Area- 8ft. Cloud +1/2) (Flaws: Limited to Vision Impairment, Unreliable- 1 Use -2) (Diminished Range -2) (13.5)

-Gruff is the titular creature of The Legend of the NeverBeast, a mysterious creature that awakens every 972 years as a green comet passes over NeverLand. The silent creature gathers stones, which he fashions into incredible spired obelisks- one in each of the Four Seasons of Pixie Hollow. Then, as a lightning storm arrives, he sprouts demonic horns & wings, and does stuff stuff that the Fairies believe is literally armageddon- pretty heavy stuff for a kids' cartoon. Gruff is decidedly-unfriendly, growly and angry at first, but when Fawn the Animal Fairy starts documenting his behavior, then aids in his building, he appreciates her company- even MORESO when she lets him play on her Pixie Dust-ed rocks and lets him fly around!

-Gruff in the Fairy World is a PL 11 giant who is nearly-impossible to stop, but is handily brought-down by the Nightshade Powder of the Scout Fairies, because Afflictions Always Work in fiction- this is hard to replicate in RPG terms except when you imply they use TONS of the stuff to bring him down, because his Fortitude compared to a Fairy's would still have to be pretty high.
