Complications:
Motivation (Destroying Evil)- Trained by a Tibetan band of warrior monks, Jago has come to the UltraTech tournament to destroy the evil within.
Secret (Past)- Jago was found abandoned as an infant by the monks, and does not know his past. Orchid is totally his sister, though.
Enemy (Fulgore)- The evil cyborg hunts Jago specifically- if you don't kill him in KI II, and Orchid is also not alive, the Cyborg will kill him in Jago's ending.
Responsibility (Honor)- Jago must act with honesty, integrity, and honor at all times.
Responsibility (The Tiger Spirit)- Jago is possessed by the great Tiger Spirit, which at times can challenge his sanity.

Total: Abilities: 78 / Skills: 40--20 / Advantages: 22 + 7 / Powers: 11 / Defenses: 12 (150)

-Jago sort of appears to be the "Ryu" of the game, as a well-balanced fighter who seems to take the most standard "heroic" role, in that he's there to stamp out evil wherever he finds it, as part of his order of Tibetan Monks. In the end, he discovers that his own master was corrupted by darkness, and so Jago must use the Tiger Spirit to cleanse the honor of his order. Along the way, he discovers that Orchid is his birth sister, and the two forge a new bond... just as he learns that the Tiger Spirit is actually EVIL, and can turn him down the Dark Hadou... I mean Dark Side... I mean... okay, so this isn't an original character, alright?

-His Special Moves are pretty athletic types of attacks like Flying Kicks (and stuff in the Shotoclone style- he's the most-direct Street Fighter style guy in the game), and include whipping out a Green Energy Sword. He was a pretty generic Ninja-Lookin' Dude in the first game, but by the 2013 update, he now looks like a WWE wrestler, but with MORE STEROIDS. I mean, he's got more big gross veins pumping out of him than Don Muraco or Dave Batista!

Motivation (Destruction)- Shadow Jago is nothing more than a monster.

Total: Abilities: 84 / Skills: 40--20 / Advantages: 25 + 7 / Powers: 11 / Defenses: 13 (160)

-As the game's "Ryu", I suppose it was inevitable that Jago would rip off Ryu's "Dark Form". Shadow Jago was initially introduced as a reward "skin" for Jago, but is also a Secret Boss in the Arcade Mode, playable as of 2015. Shadow Jago has been boosted by the magic of Gargos, the Final Boss, and twisted into a merciless monster who slaughters everything in his path like a wild animal- it turns out that THIS is the power of the Tiger Spirit.

-You unlock Shadow Jago by getting all three potential victories for a character in Arcade Mode, then defeat it once more on at least the "Hard" difficulty- you cannot lose any fights, must gain at least two Supreme Victories (ie. a perfect match), Ultra one opponent and then the Rival.

-Shadow Jago is a PL above Jago himself, hitting PL 10 and being quite a bit faster.

Funny thing about Shadow Jago is, despite him being a clear ripoff of Evil Ryu, SFV's newest character, Kage, is actually just Evil Ryu having been expelled from Ryu's body and forming a body of his own, much like Omen possesing Jago and then being expelled.

In Tekken 7 news, Julia and Negan are being released on the 28th this month.

Complications:
Responsibility (The Will of Gargos)- Omen is a willing servant.
Responsibility (What Is This Feeling?)- Having possessed Jago, Omen is having conflicting feelings about having human emotions.

Total: Abilities: 58 / Skills: 40--20 / Advantages: 12 + 7 / Powers: 14 / Defenses: 10 (121)

-Omen was introduced in Season 2 of Killer Instinct (2013), and is the embodiment of the dark spirit that had possessed Jago. He is the servent of the deity Gargos, and seeks to prepare the world for his master's arrival. He appears as a shadowy silhouette shrouded in blue/grey fog, with energy crackling around him. A servile creature loyal only to Gargos, he has been changed permanently by his link to Jago- having felt emotions like love, angry, fear, and more IN PERSON, he now sees a life beyond servitude.

-Omen's fighting style is said to be clumsy and unpredictable, making him harder to play as, but also difficult to defend against. He can also Teleport in a "Shadow Form".

oh, they hadn’t been released yet? I’d already built them. I mean, almost every Tekken fighting-related statline is the same, so it doesn’t really change much.

Indeed, and yeah, it doesn't change much, especially since Julia is a pre-existing character from the previous games and Negan is a guest fighter.

A fun Jodi Benson interview: https://m.huffingtonpost.ca/entry/ariel ... 4c78e29c83

Of course the Little Mermaid is controversial again :). People complained about it the same way back in the ‘90s.

Total: Abilities: 64 / Skills: 50--25 / Advantages: 11 + 7 / Powers: 21 / Defenses: 15 (144)

-Sabrewulf (named for a video game created by the precursor to Rare) is an unwilling victim of Lycanthropy, and seeks to win the tournament to make UltraTech cure his condition- he fights with a savage, quick-striking style and has a GREAT anti-air attack in the new game, basically creating a little semi-circle right above him. He usually just does super-fast Claw Attacks, but can also Blast and Heal himself in the original games (and even has a Fake-Out one that only takes a single frame, in case your enemy thinks he can get a free hit in while you're healing). Beaten in the first tournament, and further modified by UltraTech with cybernetics, he now "has only revenge to live for", having been permanently trapped in his wolf form, but his limbs apparently regrow in the 2013 update. He sometimes allies with Chief Thunder's tribe, wishing for a degree of inner peace with them.

-Riptor is kind of a goofy design, as the whole "Lizard Man" thing doesn't really work when combined with this hulking, hunched-over figure- it loses most of the svelte, fast appearance of a Velociraptor (his basis), nor is it QUITE big enough to stand out as a powerhouse in a game full of roid-injecting bodybuilders. I think this goes a long way towards explaining why he ended up missing in Killer Instinct II, explained away as a "decisive" loss against TJ Combo. He's one of numerous UltraTech-created fighters, but in his ending, it's stated that his victory in the tournament allows dinosaurs to once again "control the Earth".

-Riptor thus takes a 20-ish year nap, but reappears in the 2013 Killer Instinct remake, this time as an orange-skinned female who ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE A VELOCIRAPTOR, thus fixing the issues with the initial version of the character. The blue energy claws and mechanical bits add to the figure, keeping it from looking like a "transplanted animal" and keeping it more in tune with the Fantasy/Sci-Fi mix that's part of the KI concept. The "standing" animations are excellent, as well- the toe-claws "click" up and down, and the panels on her back & tail flip open with each movement- graphics have gotten INSANELY good lately. An UltraTech scientist worked using cybernetic implants and her own mind in order to control the beasts.

-Riptor is on the fast side for a "Powerhouse" character (a lot of his moves involve leaps and dashes), but is still a seven-foot reptile, AND he shoots Acid out of his mouth! He's only PL 8 compared to the usual PL 9 characters because he was canonically killed in the first tournament by T.J. Combo, and thus doesn't deserve a higher PL :).

I actually own the BattleToads game.
The first two levels are actually a lot of fun, and if they'd stuck with that it would have been a great game.
But the third stage will ruin your life. It looks simple at first, then it gets fast, and faster, and you need to jump, move down then move up and jump three times in rapid perfect succession and...

Yeah, no. Couldn't do it.
Beat Terminator 2 on the NES though.

I owned Battletoads on the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) as a kid. Despite that version supposedly being easier, I still couldn't get past the speeder bike level.

-Kim Wu is a pretty forgettable character added to the sequel, devoted to ridding the world of evil and all that boring stuff. Her pink outfit and generic name really showcase a lack of thought, in my opinion. Even her moves are basic Shotoclone territory- Fireballs, Air Fireballs and an Uppercut using the "Down-Down/Back-Back-Half Circle Forward" motion.

-The 2013 remake added Kim in 2016, re-evaluating her into a more modern appearance, to the point where she looks like a teen girl straight out of Tekken. She is said to be all the things associated with Dragons in the Chinese zodiac- intelligent, bossy, loud, garish, flightly and successful. This comes from her "Holy Dragon Spirit", Yeouiju. This version adds a background in fashion design and an Anti-Air move.

-Spinal is an ancient warrior, revived by UltraTech's technology. "With only the vaguest memories of his past life, Spinal knows how to do only one thing: fight!" He's a pretty boring design compared to the other characters, and seems kinda like filler; despite that, he ended up being on all three games. Okay, he was destroyed by Chief Thunder in the first game, and the one in the second is Gargos' own "Spinal" and a different guy. In his first ending, we get a joke that he becomes an Oscar-winning actor.

-The remake reinvents him as a former pirate driven mad by The Mask of the Ancients, which was attached to him by a wise king as punishment for trying to empty the royal coffers. He was forced into slavery and then burning himself alive. He was restored in modern times, confused and repeating his pirate ways, ultimately finding that the Mask (of course in Ultratech’s possession) could not free him.

-I figure him for PL 8.5 mostly- he DID die in the first tournament, but his variations still pop up, meaning he's still a contender. He's a bit tricky to figure out since he's using a SWORD as a weapon, and so you'd think he'd be hitting much harder than most everyonea round him- instead, he's more of a Poker/Blaster type character. And also you can't disarm him of the Sword or Shield, when doing either would be a smart move in an M&M game.

-Spinal has some of the weirdest techniques in the series, being able to mimic his opponent's appearance for a brief shot and do one of their combos before reverting back- it's effectively a Morph/Shapeshift effect that lasts for one attack. Plus he can Teleport (another rarity) and Blast.

A skeleton actor would be an amazing character concept. Grumbles about getting typecast in horror movies, what he really wants to do is direct...

Yeah, make no bones about it, his acting career would be pretty slim pickings, especially if he wants to branch out into more humerus roles. It would be especially bad since he has no body to support him, not with all of the boning he did with his co-workers. He'll have to show some real backbone to get the roles he wants, but I don't see any potential backlash getting under his skin. Maybe he should go into independent films. I hear he can work wonder with a skeleton crew.

And that's before we get to how problematic he'd be considered for having an unreasonable standard of beauty/body type. I mean, who could ever live up to that level of thin-ness?
