Though I haven't read the book, I have read write-ups about the Marvel character Brain-Child (a Squadron Supreme enemy). The story of Ray Thompson seems to have been based on Brain-Child.

My Favorite Hulk Panel is when he claps out Dormammu's head-fire,

-The four members of the Injustice Guild are clearly aping Injustice Society members. They're quite powerful on their own, but are poor fighters- Cat Man effortlessly lays waste to the entire group of bad guys in close-quarters.

Injustice Guild Roster:
THE MUSIC MASTER- PL 9 (97): "Accordian" (Cone Area Damage 9) [11]
-Evoking The Fiddler, the Music Master could create devastating energy waves with his accordian.

THE SPORTSMAN- PL 9 (101): Devices (Knockout Gas Golf Ball- Sleep 8, Explosive Birdies- Blast 8, Foil- Damage +2), Ranged Attack 4 [15]
-Evoking The Sportsmaster rather directly, the Sportsman was given a Phil Hartman-like booming "friendly douchebag" egomaniac voice.

DR. BLIZZARD- PL 10 (113): "Ice Light" (Snare 10, Blast 5- Multiattack, Move Ice 6, Platform Flight 6), Ranged Attack 4 [27]
-Evoking the Icicle, Dr. Blizzard shot ice from his doctor's headlight.

SIR SWAMI- PL 8 (110): "Magic Wand" (Teleport 8, Weaken Objects Toughness 5, Move Object 5, Transform Anything to Anything 4, "Presto Chango!" Snare 9, Blast 8), Ranged Attack 4 [24]
-Evoking The Wizard, Sir Swami could basically make anything happen when using his magic wand.

About the Performers:

-Dr. Blizzard was played by Corey Burton, like so many other roles on this show.

-Sir Swami was played by Jeffrey Jones, a character actor best known for playing a variety of uncool characters, like Emperor Joseph II in "Amadeus", Edward R. Rooney in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off", and Charles Deetz in "Beetlejuice". He has most recently impressed on "Deadwood".

-The Music Master was played by Udo Kier, a German actor & voice actor who hasn't done a single role I've heard of, but is often chosen to play Germans in both live action & cartoons.

-The Sportsman is played by Michael McKean, was famous for playing Lenny on "Laverne & Shirley" in the '70s, then showing up on "Saturday Night Live" in the '90s. He often appears in Christopher Guest's films, being the lead singer in "This is Spinal Tap".

-Captain Cold and his friends showed up in only one JLU episode for the most part, antagonizing The Flash, Batman & Orion. Cold himself was portrayed as a blue-collar sort, griping about his pain-in-the-ass wife and how The Flash kept him from millions, and so he and all the Flash Rogues want revenge. I never got into the Flash's book, so to me the Rogues are a bunch of silly-named guys that I generally used to use to make fun of DC Comics back when I was pure-Marvelite (I generally laughed at Aquaman, Aqualad, Captain Cold and a few other Flash Rogues), using their silliness as reasoning for why Marvel was inherently better (at least THEIR stupid guys are low-tier Jobbers or forgotten characters!). In the show, he expressed a fair bit fewer feats than he did in the comics, so he's only a minor guy. He's effectively got the same gun as Mister Freeze, but carries a few more Alt-Effects (Area Snare & Ice Slicks), but no Weaken Stamina.

-Mirror Master is one of those kooky Flash Rogues that got a lot more play in the '90s. Before that, he was just kind of a joke. I know that I personally used the Flash's Rogues as an example as why Marvel was better than DC back in the days- Marvel had Jobber Villains, but they were at least funny and kept to the minor leagues. *DC* used them as the villains for their MAIN GUYS. And the NAMES- "Mirror Master"? "Captain Cold"? What, was "Golden Glider" taken-- oh wait, it WAS. By a FLASH ROGUE. Seriously.

-A quartet of Rogues showed up in one singular episode of JLU, featuring Flash, Batman & Orion (doing his best "I'm a grumpy ass" schtick) dealing with the villains in Central City. It was a cute episode, since it had The Flash's trademark goofiness, mixed with an explaining of just WHY Wally was such a good hero- Orion spent the whole episode not "getting it", whereas even BATMAN acknowledged the good Wally does. The villains used some of their trademark wacky gimmicks, but were ultimately pretty dangerous, and had the heroes dead to rights for a time.

-Mirror Master is a "Gadget Guy" type of villain, and often comes with bases & equipment laden with Lasers, Hypnosis, Illusions, etc. His stock in trade is almost more of a Batman Rogue kind of thing, but he does okay against The Flash. I statted him up rather Defensive, as I figure his deal made him quite hard to hit a lot of the time (and not just when doing the "which one of me is REAL?" gimmick.

About the Performer: Alexis Denisof is most famous for playing the nerdy Wesley on the third season of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", a role that introduced him to his wife, Alyson Hannigan. The character fit so well into the series that creator Joss Whedon offered to let the actor decide if Wesley should live, or die as intended- Denisof wisely chose to keep performing the character in a popular show (I mean, DUH), and so he popped up on the spinoff series, "Angel", for 100 of its 110 episodes. His career took a "Post-Whedon Show Slump" after that (something felt by a majority of the actors in those shows), but was on "How I Met Your Mother" in a minor recurring role (alongside his wife, again).

Total: Abilities: 52 / Skills: 36--18 / Advantages: 10 / Powers: 20 / Defenses: 16 (116)

-The Trickster is just a really minor Flash villain who got a Large Ham-type redo by Mark Hamill in the original live action The Flash series, and he got the role again for JLU, in an episode featuring Flash's old Rogues gathering up to kill him. However, Trickster is really just a silly little man with emotional problems, and thus Wally was able to just talk him out of the scheme, pointing out that he was off his meds, and in-costume (Trickster honestly didn't even realize it). He willingly gave himself up as a result. This was shown as an indication to Orion (and the audience, VIA Orion) that Wally was actually a good hero and a nice person- one willing to use methods other than violence when necessary, and a hero with real compassion. In a great bit, it's BATMAN who understands this the best, and seems to genuinely follow the Flash's lead for once, assuming he knows best.

-Trickster takes a bit from Wikipedia here, becoming a sort of Gadget Guy character, who can likely invent new powers for each story.

About the Performer: Mark Hammill is of course in the DCAU for his role as The Joker, but also making him the similarly-named and gimmicked Trickster was a great casting gag, especially given as he had the same role on the "Flash" TV series back in the day.

Obligatory repost of Justice League Action's "Missing the Mark" where The Joker and Trickster kidnap a certain actor...

-Heatwave's one of the lower-tier Flash Rogues, and didn't get much play on JLU either. He's basically a dude with a Flamethrower, and that's about it. How this dude fought The Flash I have NO idea, but you could say that about any number of his Rogues. On the show, he actualy wasn't with the Rogues for their Focus Episode, but was instead a Background Jobber in Lex Luthor's group- he got to survive until the end of the show, at least.

Relationship (Pat Dugan, S.T.R.I.P.E.)- Courtney's stepfather Pat is her mentor as a hero as well. The two are family, but don't really get along- she openly disrespects him, and rejects his attempts to settle her down.

Total: Abilities: 18 / Skills: 22--11 / Advantages: 11 / Powers: 39 / Defenses: 17 (96)

-Courtney Whitmore has had a pretty blessed life as a comic book character for someone who was in a low-end comic book that was eventually cancelled. Because her status as a Legacy Hero put her on the new JSA revamp... and Geoff Johns, her creator (he based her off of his deceased little sister), soon took over part of the writing chores. And so Stargirl ended up getting one of the most pronounced, rapid-fire cases of Character Development seen in the medium, going from an immature brat into a responsible, capable super-heroine.

-With her inclusion on the JSA, Courtney became quite blessed, especially once Johns fully took over the series. She gave the team some much-needed youth and perspective, so it wasn't just a bunch of old guys hanging around, reminiscing about old times. She was cute, funny, and had some extra-special qualities about her. Rather than dress like a stripper and have gigantic knockers, Stargirl wore a midriff-baring top as her skimpiest article of clothing, and she looks like a pretty teenager with a normal slim build. During every single JSA arc, she stands out- she was brave, but not TOO brave; she admired the older JSAers, but carved her own path anyways; she was rebellious, but she smacked around Jakeem Thunder for talking lip to Mr. Terrific. She was so perfect that the other characters could only talk about how much potential she had, which could veer DANGEROUSLY into Mary Sue territory (especially when Johns based her off of his late sister), but they kept her above the level by making sure she was never TOO smart or TOO powerful. In the end, she was still a fairly young kid, and arguably the team's least-effective combatant except for the Rookie Kids. Unfortunately, constant revamps at DC left various new characters, including her, on the sidelines while everything got changed, and so everything that was good about the character eventually went away.

-Stargirl was ridiculously cute on JLU- the least-sexualized of the female characters, they gave her the biggest eyes possible, and the largest head-to-body ratio, making her look like an adolescent with super-powers. And she was adorably bratty as well- she openly dissed both Supergirl and her own Stepfather, and got in crap from Green Lantern about "Grandstanding" in a fight against freakin' Gamera in Japan. She kind of made good with Kara in the end, though. Not too many appearances for her (her and S.T.R.I.P.E. were just backgrounders for the most part), but it was all fun stuff.

-Stargirl's a PL 9 like most other Leaguers, but she's NOTABLY lacking in points-cost thanks to a lack of Skills & Advantages- she's just a KID, after all, and hasn't had the years of experience to build up a well-rounded variety of moves. She's also a bit different from her JSA/Comics self, in that they never actually STATE that the Converter Belt gives her stat boosts (there's not even really any evidence for it at all), and she can use the Control Rod to move stuff about while she flies. I kind of just added some of her comic self onto this (mainly the Stats), for the sake of completion.

About the Performer: Giselle Loren is a career Voice Actress with VERY few credits to her name. Older than you'd think for her tiny voice, she was Martha Connors (The Lizard's wife) in the '90s "Spider-Man" cartoon, and voiced Buffy Summers in two "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" video games.

-Pat Dugan's had a pretty weird run in comics- going from the ADULT sidekick to a TEEN hero, to outliving his own boss (Skyman, aka the Star-Spangled Kid, was killed in Infinity Inc.), to helping out his new stepdaughter in superheroics... all while being easily written-out and basically ignored in stories (he's not even really IN JSA, despite being a Golden Age hero and Courtney Whitmore's stepfather).

-JLU Pat was right back to the beginning of Stars & S.T.R.I.P.E. for these two, which is fine- their initial relationship was fun, unique for comics, and allowed for tons of stories. Stargirl grew up a LOT over the previous ten years of comic book storytelling, but the show put us with lecturing, annoyed Pat constantly chasting after his exciteable stepdaughter. He has by far the least to do in her focus episode (which is primarily based off of Courtney's rivalry with Supergirl).

-Pat Dugan (not typing out all those "."s between letters again) is kind of a hard guy to stat up, as he's in a VERY weak suit of Power Armour (it breaks in literally every appearance- something falls off, the jets de-activate, the hull breaks and he starts sticking out of it, etc.), but nonetheless is more expensive than he should be. Good physical stats (but he's nowhere near his athletic prime from the '40s), quite smart, and a good craftsman, but notably not in the Genius area for any of it- he's more of a Greasemonkey than a Tech Guy on any team. The suit itself has mild Regenerating powers (stuff can repair itself on the fly, and he reattached an arm properly just by sticking it back in the socket), and small amounts of what most other suits have. It's almost more of a Mech than a suit of armour (he's not doing ANY lifting, for example- he's actually sitting down inside the suit with his hands on controls), but this is simpler and easier to deal with given the universe he's in. For the JLU version, I just adapted what he can do in the comics since he didn't get a lot of play- he's a weak PL 8.5 Powersuit.

About the Performer: Pat is stuck being played by Green Lantern's VA, as Phil LaMarr was also being used for that episode.

-Despero is a semi-forgotten DC villain from the '60s, despite being the JLA's first big opponent. He looks a little silly, his name is one of those goofy Silver Age "Name + o" names, and he shows up only sporadically, but the Geoff Johns Virtue & Vice JSA/JLA Trade was an excellent use of the guy. And his cartoon appearance was terrific. Voiced by Keith "Goliath" David, he had the manliest voice EVER, and controlled an ever-expanding army that threatened the entire cosmos (GL said "he'd spread his forces WAY too thin" before realizing the extent of Despero's control). He even managed to screw up John so badly that he couldn't even use his Green Lantern Ring- Katma Tui had to retrain him from scratch! And even in the end, when John did the classic "GL Bad-Ass Moment" by regaining his control (after a short stint as a gun-toting soldier again) and throwing down with the uber-bad-ass, Despero STILL had the advantage! It took J'onn contacting the Flame of Py'tar telepathically and turning Despero and his army into Trees (in one of the more Nightmare Fuel-y moments on the show) to turn the tide.

-Despero is a HELL of a fighter, and generally too powerful for any individual Leaguer. John with renewed vigor came closest, and did some considerable damage, but Despero was still ahead of the game. He'd probably lose against the entire League, however. His points cost is CRAZY, thanks to having a super-powerful Mind Control effect over his minions (Continuous, even!), super-powerful Blasts, etc. And he's got an entire ARMY behind him, too! Not a guy to screw with.

About the Performer: Keith David used his pretty-standard voice for Despero, which is so low-pitched and growly that it works perfectly for dangerous, bad-ass villains with great power both personal and political. I've detailed him with my Doctor Facilier build from "The Princess and the Frog".

The big problem with Flash's Rogues are that they're blue-collar villains because he's supposed to be a blue-collar hero. In spite of being constantly put into one of the big seats, the basics of the character were much more grounded and most of his villains were designed by consequence. Some even went as far as suggesting that most of them are actually punch-clock villains.

On a different subject, after translating the first dozen or so issues of Geoff Jones tenure of JSA, I have to say that I loved how he worked around Pat Dugan. The guy was pretty much benched 99% of the time (except when swooping in to bail Courtney out of the fire), but Jones provided a good rationale for it: Pat just had a baby daughter. This actually evolved into a pretty touching moment when Jay Garrick and Alan Scott explained to Courtney that, in the old days, everybody teased Pat for being the adult sidekick to a teenager hero, but this was no longer the case. Everybody came to realize that Pat accepted his role because he considered Sylverster his adopted son and the truth was that Pat has always been a family man first and foremost.
"You're right. Sorry. Holy shit," I breathed, "heckhounds.”

I don't remember where all it happened, but there have been some fun scenes between Courtney and Billy and playing on their relative versus appearance ages.

*Stern glare of disapproval that a grown man is flirting with everyone's 'little sister'*
*Captain Marvel looking confused that people are getting annoyed with him flirting with a cute girl his own age*
Ohhhhhhhh
We rise from the ashes so that new legends can be born.
