To me, Bigfoot always reminded me of a Wookie.

-The second-most well-known cryptozoological wildman on Earth, the creature now best known as the Yeti was first named "The Abominable Snowman" in 1921, with an English writer mistranslated what some Sherpas explained as the source for some strange tracks found by an explorer. He assumed that "Metoh" meant "filthy" instead of "man-bear", and altered it to "abominable". Belief in the creature is likely Pre-Buddhist in the region, with supersticious locals attempting to convince the sceptical explorers as to the identity of the creature, before it became a full-blown well-known cryptid.

-Though the creature is always seen as white in fictional stories, it's more often red or brown-colored in the "real" sightings, which increased as Yeti tales became much more common in the West. "Scalps" and other things were considered holy relics by monks, but most have turned out to be non-ape creatures.

-Contrasting the fairly dull MIMP Bigfoot, the Abominable Snowman is one of the best in the line. This thing is INCREDIBLE- great movement (doing a hunched over pose with one arm on the ground), wind-swept fur, a scary, sharp-toothed face... this guy is absolutely one of the best. Alas, this great figure was only available via Shreddies & Big Boy giveaways, meaning he's incredibly rare and SUPER-expensive to collect.

Complications:

Total: Abilities: 42 / Skills: 28--14 / Advantages: 5 / Powers: 41 / Defenses: 6 (108)

-The Alu a very obscure creation, from Akkadian & Sumerian mythology. It's said to be vengeful spirit who roams and night, terrifying people while they sleep. Possession by him results in a coma, making him similar to other myths like the Mara & Incubus- things meant to explain sleep paralysis and other things that medical science of the time had no explanation for. He's said to be an Assyrian creature that's a floating bag of bones that attempts to envelops its victims. The figure isn't bad, but is largely just a bag with a monster-y head.

65) MERROW
Origin:
Story (Ireland)
Role: Sexy Lady Monster/Brutish Undersea Merman, Irish Merfolk
PL 4 (60)

FIGHTING 5 DEXTERITY 0
INTELLIGENCE 0 AWARENESS 0 PRESENCE 0

Skills:
Acrobatics 2 (+4)
Athletics 4 (+7)
Athletics 3 (+10) -- (Flaws: Limited to Underwater)
Close Combat (Unarmed) 2 (+7)
Intimidation 5 (+5)
Perception 4 (+4)
Stealth 2 (+4)

Advantages:
None

Powers:
"Animal Senses" Senses 2 (Low-Light Vision, Acute Scent) [2]

"Aquatic Creatures"
Swimming 4 (8 mph) [4]
Movement 1 (Environmental Adaptation- Aquatic) [2]
Immunity 3 (Drowning, Cold, Pressure) [3]

"Cohuleen Druith- Magical Cap" (Flaws: Easily Removable) [3]
Morph 1 (Merrow/Human Form Switch) (5 points)

Offense:
Unarmed +7 (+3 Damage, DC 18)
Initiative +2

Defenses:
Dodge +5 (DC 15), Parry +6 (DC 16), Toughness +4, Fortitude +5, Will +3

Complications:
Weakness (Dry Land)- Aquatic creatures will soon die if left out of the water for too long- some will immediately start to suffocate without water to pass through their gills, where others may merely dehydrate.
Responsibility (Natural Instincts)- A Merrow's natural place is the sea. Even one who loves her human family will be drawn to it, and will abandon them entirely if she finds her magical cap.

Total: Abilities: 28 / Skills: 20--10 / Advantages: 0 / Powers: 14 / Defenses: 8 (60)

-A Merrow is an Irish type of Mer-person, typically requiring a magical cap in order to travel between water and land. One story about a female Merrow reflects the "Selkie" tales, replacing their seal-skin for the cap (so that a local man can marry her without her being able to return to the sea), while another about a male makes him grotesque, but joyous, entertaining a fisherman at his home under the sea. These tales were made up by Thomas Crofton Croker for a 1828 book, and later writers more or less spun off stories from there. Typically, female Merrows appear like beautiful mermaids, with green hair and slight webbing between their fingers, and will inevitably abandon their families, owing to their "natural instincts" to return to the sea. Others are comely maidens who lure young men to live with them under the water (it's said that male Merrow are ugly, you see). Dungeons & Dragons used the name for an aquatic variant of the Troll.

-The MIMP figure seems chosen because Mermaids aren't really frightening "Monsters", and so this thing looks more like the D&D monster, being a muscular, trollish individual. Large scales surround his head, though he shares the weakness of the female.

-I went with a fairy strong, adequate "Mermaid" build, fitting a tougher creature. But you'll note that even Princess Ariel was rather strong- her grotto was concealed by a BOULDER, which she deftly lifted.

The Monster

13) THE MONSTER (Frankenstein's Monster)

Unarmed +10 (+8 Damage, DC 23)
Initiative +0

Defenses:
Dodge +8 (DC 18), Parry +10 (DC 20), Toughness +8, Fortitude +10, Will +6

Complications:
Responsibility (Alone)- The Monster is now alone, having seen his creator die, and no hope of a bride possible.

Total: Abilities: 60 / Skills: 26--13 / Advantages: 10 / Powers: 4 / Defenses: 19 (106)

-The story of Frakenstein is one of the most influential literary classics of all time- possibly the first true "science fiction" story. The book is much different from what we imagine the story to be now- the creature Victor Frankenstein creates is intelligent, well-spoken and quick to learn- not a lumbering oaf. But because of Hollywood, that's the version that has stuck. In Frankenstein, the scientist creates an unnatural man- a hideous giant out of corpses, thus breaking natural laws. Disturbed by his creation, Victor abandons it, causing a confused, angry creature to lash out at him. He demands Victor create him a wife... but Victor destroys it on the slab and flees. The Monster, as he's called (along with Demon, Creature, Wretch and other things), learns to speak from a blind man he befriends (and himself flees when the man's daughter spots him for the first time), and eventually strangles Victor's intended bride. Victor chases the creature across the Arctic, where the scientist dies of exhaustion. The creature, now alone, drifts away on an ice floe, never to be seen again.

-The story was a HUGE smash, and the Hollywood movie, starring Boris Karloff as the creature, was a big sensation as well. It led to many sequels, including The Bride of Frankenstein, and the character (soon adopting his creator's name) became a recurring thing- a simple-minded, slow-talking, but sympathetic madman, constantly beset by a world that hates and fears him. And so audiences both felt for him and feared him, creating the basis by which soooooooooo many Marvel super-heroes were created. Not just the Hulk, but the X-Men, Spider-Man and others all have aspects of this pathetic figure.

-The Monster is a pretty plain, straight-armed figure, with a stereotypical Frankensteinian face. Not very inventive, but they kind of needed to have him as a signature guy. He's one of the most important figures in the line, however, appearing as one of two main heroes in the NES video game, as well as some of the supporting materials!

-Frankenstein's Monster is a pretty simple PL 9 build- a super-strong grappler with little in the way of skills or non-fighting capabilities. This version features no indication that the monster is dumb, so I left in the intelligence and craftiness of the novel's creature, which can frame Victor and others for murder.

hahaha, OMG- this is amazing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I09xfAHv5fw

There's apparently a trend in China of legit MMA fighters going around and beating the shit out of "Kung Fu Masters". This guys details some theories as to why this keeps happening, and why so many frauds are around, teaching despite never having gotten into fights before.

Here's another article about an "accidental dissident" who proved how fake Tai Chi was by beating the asses of 17 "masters" is a row, while himself being just a standard-issue MMA fighter: https://deadspin.com/he-never-intended- ... 1838706430

Reminds me of the hilarity of Black Belt Magazine printing article after article about frauds spouting off their bullshit... and the only time they ever wrote an article doubting a martial art was the friggin' *UFC* of all things, because they couldn't figure out why this grappling style was taking apart all of the martial arts they thought were good.

There is a nugget of truth to that. It's not well published, but the Gracie's bankrolled parts of the UFC and they had influence on how the rules were set up. They still proved you needed grappling skills, but they also staged things to make their art look more impressive.

Unarmed +12 (+8 Damage, DC 23)
Initiative +4

Defenses:
Dodge +12 (DC 22), Parry +12 (DC 22), Toughness +8, Fortitude +10, Will +10

Complications:
Responsibility (Great Prince of Hell)- Orobas has certain responsibilities.
Responsibility (The Truth)- Unlike many other demons, Orobas does not lie.

Total: Abilities: 94 / Skills: 50--25 / Advantages: 16 / Powers: 22 / Defenses: 15 (172)

-Orobas is a Great Prince of Hell, having "twenty legions" of demons under his command. I have no idea where most "Demonology" factoids come from, though. Orobas is a summonable creature, and gives true answers and favour to those who conjure him. He is typically seen as a horse that can change into a man.

-The MIMP figure is somewhat interesting and strange, being that rare thing- the bipedal horse. Only in BraveStarr and Care Bears do you typically see such things. Here, he's said to be an "oracle" and not a demon. He is also a Shreddies exclusive (not even appearing at Big Boy restaurants at all), making him incredibly rare and expensive to get.

Frankie was pretty tough in the MIMP comic. Even at an inch tall, he could wallop a grown human and they'd feel it (as opposed to the Vampire's hypnotism, Medusa's stone gaze, and Spring Heeled Jack's death gaze only having minor, momentary effects on full sized humans)

He also did the best out of anybody against the T-Rex ....well except Swamp Beast, but he had esoteric abilities while Frankie just slugged it out with him. Frankie's group against the T-rex were himself, Dr. Jekyll, the Invisible Man and the Hobgoblin. The T-Rex disposed of the latter too pretty easily, and when Jekyll turned into Hyde he cravenly just ran away.

Frankie and the T-Rex just threw down hard, with Frankie even swinging him by the tail at one point IIRC. T-Rex by smashing a plate over him and knocking him around, but it was a very good fight.

He had the stilted dialogue in the comic but didn't seem to be stupid either.
