I went ahead and added an Athletics check as Flynn suggested.

Sleep is a very good spell at low levels. It doesn't scale so well as you level up and creatures get more HP.
Sorry to hear that I hope you both get through it okay.

The good news is that I seem to avoided the worst of it.
However I'm really feeling that long term exhaustion part.
Due to some bad planning on part of everybody in charge of a massive software rollout, our team has been whittled down to two people to support what normally takes seven people, during a time where we're getting double the normal tickets.
I think I'd actually be calling in sick this week too if it didn't mean leaving only one guy trying to keep the place running.
Meanwhile my wife has made a full recovery and you'd never know she was ever sick.
Women ;~)

Well, there's another "challenging" fight I was worried about... that you guys completely dominated ;~)
I think Georgia gets the MVP for that one.

No Save vs Sleep really is the kind of thing that can break an encounter. And if you overcast it, it can affect some pretty strong enemies.

Sleep is a really broken spell at low levels when most enemies only have a one or two hit dice, so every time you cast it you're basically guaranteed to take at least 1-2 enemies out of the fight.
Its effectiveness tapers off at higher levels as individual enemies get more HP.

Grover could have used an action to kick his men awake. Probably even a bonus action as they weren't resisting and he didn't need to put strength behind it. Any damage, even from friendly sources, wakes a sleeper right up. He could spend an action, too, to shake them awake without damage, but Grover seems the type to just kick people.

You're not wrong.
Sadly, or should I say: luckily for you, Grover also doesn't seem the sort to really known heads or tails about magic.

Feel free to cut free, cinematic style.
There's about twenty opponents still standing, they're effectively 10 AC 1 HP minions.
No need to roll, you guys already took out the real combat challenges already. This is more of a narrative opportunity to cut loose.
These guys will only take a few losses before the tide turns and they break and run.
