Aldan

While he still had his own vials of oil he didn't know how many could be employed in this battle, so was grateful for an additional supply, (though less grateful for the tongue lashing that accompanied it).

Aldan mixes a set of ball bearings in with the oil in an attempt to make a more thoroughly impassable area where ever it hits. He bears that in hand. He'd hoped they'd have opportunity to set more things up at the bridge - tripwires and such, but seeing their opponents had already shown made that impossible now.

Behind and above him, born aloft by a spectral hand, was a lit oil lantern, it's light pushing back the encroaching darkness of sunset.
init: 1d20+4 15
I seem to recall a description of the bridge being stone, am I wrong?

And are you thinking to do a Roll20 map?

OOC: You get one vial of oil and a stern lecture about fire safety
Right now you're all to the south of the inn. The opposing sides have yet to get to the bridge yet, but it looks like both sides will meet at the center of the bridge if you all continue forwards. The bridge is about twenty feet across, so just enough four four people shoulder to shoulder.
Let me know if you have any crazy plans, and an initiative roll for when combat starts in earnest, please.
Georgia begins tuning her fiddle and humming to herself as they walk to the bridge. "I've got a little trick that should clear out the fodder at least. That way we can focus on the actual dangerous enemies."

OOC: Initiative 1d20+3: 16
My current plan of action is to have Georgia cast Sleep in the midst of the enemy, to take out the weaker enemies.

Tyragorn
HP: 21 AC:18

In his armor, Tyragorn had no intention of fighting in the middle of the bridge where a strong blow or bad step could send him into the water. Instead he strode to the near and of the bridge and stood ready to engage the approaching enemy.
Ready action to attack the first enemy that comes within melee range. Rolls, if needed
Melee attack: 1d20+5 17
Melee damage: 1d8+3 6
if that enemy is Derek the Assassin, I'll drop a Divine Smite as well for additional damage
Smite damage: 2d8 11

Will also use reaction to give disadvantage to the first enemy that attacks an adjacent ally, if that happens

Derek Desleigh comes forward onto the bridge, wearing no visible armor and carrying a sharp looking curved blade. Glaring daggers at Aldan he hesitates a bit at the sight of Tyragon, breaking stride and looking back to make sure Grover and the others are still following him.

OOC:
Derek moves up, but he'd be out of range of Tyragorn even with a full double move, but he's neither brave enough or dumb enough to want to close in on Tyragorn without some backup.

Georgia is up next.

Georgia Fiddler
HP: 16/16 AC: 15
Spell slots: 2/3 left

Georgia casually walks up behind Tyragorn, she wanted Grover and his goons to get a little bit closer before she unleashed her magical surprise. Idly plucking out notes on her fiddle she called out to the Murderman that Aldan was so worried about.

"Oh don't worry, you can bring your friends with you. We wouldn't want to scare you off before we've had a proper chat." Georgia called out to Desleigh mockingly. The man wasn't stupid enough to rush Tyragorn head to head... but maybe a few knives to the ego would make him careless.

OOC: Georgia moves to the space behind Tyragorn and casts Vicious Mockery on Derek Desleigh.

Wisdom save 14 or he takes 1d4: 3 [1d4=3] and has disadvantage on the next attack roll he makes until the end of his next turn.

The magic doesn't seem to grab hold, but the words still seem to sting the man, causing him to sneer in your direction.
He still fails to move forward though, proving Georgia's assessment to be rather accurate.
OOC:
Signs I may be biased: I'm disappointed by a good roll for the bad guys.
Sadly Derek rolls a natural 17.

Aldan
Passive Perception:14 | Init:+4 | AC:17 | HP:14/14

Aldan moves to the treeline and throws his bag of oil-soaking ball bearings onto the stone bridge in effort to narrow the lines of approach the bad guys had. The spectral hand floated over the area bearing the lit oil lamp to better illuminate the scene for the human paladin as the sun went down, too.
if needed. throwing: 1d20+6 23
"Remember, by all accounts Derek was an amoral bastard even before being mind-controlled by a 'snake goddess'." Aldan warns.

Aldan's aim is true, dropping the oil and ball bearings on the bridge.
OOC:
I'd say DC10 is probably higher than is warranted to hit a square at close range, so Aldan hit what he was aiming for.

Zasio Blackthorn:
HP: 23
AC: 14
Objects of Interest: Goodberries (2 - each heals 4 hp)

Zasio says nothing, again preferring to allow his allies who were much better suited to such things, instead he quietly mutters a few words as his gaze rests on Derek.

Grover shoves Derek out of the way with a sneer as he closes in on our heroes.
He and his henchmen charge forward only for Grover and one of his henchmen to fall victim to the ball bearings that Aldan had thrown earlier. The last henchman, the one on the east, comes to a halt trying to figure out what just happened.
OOC:
There's no save on the spell, so it works without issue.
Grover and the henchmen double move forward and go right into the danger zone.
Both Grover and one of the Henchmen fall prone after failing their dex saves.

New turn.

Tyragorn stepped around the mess of bearings and took a swing at the guard that was still standing.

The guard, distracted, doesn't bring up his weapon to defend himself in time, catching the attack in the ribs with a sickening crack.
He falls against the side of the bridge, holding himself up with his weapon arm, struggling to stay standing.

Derek moves closer to the fight, avoiding the area with the ball bearings, but hesitating on getting too close to where Tyragorn is.
OOC:
That's a hit, and a lot of damage, but the guy is just barely standing.
