When the Dark Ascendant gives him instructions about waiting for a signal to head to the motel room, John silently nods. After his leader departs, John makes sure that he has his jacket and hoodie along with sunglasses to wear. When he does get the signal to go, he'll move as discretely as possible using a path to the motel room that seems less travelled and minimizing exposure to the front of the building.

HP: 3, Condition: Fatigued

Aiden also silently nods to Diego. He hates feeling all dirty and grimy from working on the car for so long. But he is so tired, he debates whether a shower first would be the wiser move over going straight to sleep.

At least looking dirty and grimy will probably make him fit in more in this neighborhood.

Iona
The guy accepts the batteries and sets them on the dashboard. After Iona gets into the buggy, they're off. Speeding away into the desert with a cloud of dust behind them.

"Medkit if you need it."

While looking ahead he jerks a thumb back over his shoulder towards the back seat. As indicated, there is a kit on the seat next to Iona. Not a simple first aid kit. But a serious medical kit. Just like you'd find an EMT carrying. Probably stolen from the back of an ambulance. Of course this is nearly useless to Iona. She could extract bullet, stitch closed the holes ... but Iona's skin was a very superficial part of her. The real damage was mechanical and would need to be tended to back in Dr. Sokolov's laboratory.

The drive is a dusty, bouncing, zig zagging blur. After about an hour of travel the buggy pulls up to a shack in the middle of nowhere. The two men escorting Iona climb out of the dune buggy, the one who had done all the talking opens the door for her while the other heads inside the shack.

"Theres a bag for you inside with clothes and a phone. Call your people, if you want. Then trash it. Just be careful what you say and make it short. We'll wait it out here till things cool down, then take you to see Romper."

The young cyborg has just drawn the military response in her direction just before disappearing into the Nevada desert with Romper's henchmen. Oddly, she now feels less comfortable than before her previous task. Alone and without hope for backup, she would have to hope the encounter with Romper didn't turn ugly.

Inside the shack, Iona takes the phone and sends a brief text to Diego before disabling it. <The party was a success. I'm sleeping off the hangover at an acquaintance's house. I'll be home after I wake up.>

She now changes out of the bullet-riddled clothing into those provided by her host. What kind of host will Romper be? He will surely demand something of me. But what could I possible give him?

None dissented, so Diego went ahead and parked the car behind the motel near the rear exit. Given the bumper sticker, he didn't expect it to still be there after a rest. Getting a car wasn't going to be an issue now they were resorting to stealing vehicles. Also, driving around with a dead body wasn't exactly ideal. Before finalizing the parkings, Diego made sure to stop at a spot with no one looking at them and no cameras. He shifted into a woman who seemed more reputable than the ladies of the evening, but not so classy as to not belong to the area.

When Ionas text came in, Diego figured she was ok. The military hadn't grabber her at least. Whereever she was laying low, Diego hoped she had the good sense to not draw undo attention to their plot.

He makes his way to the motel room and does a quick visual inspection hoping to disguise it as due diligence given the neighbourhood. Most would be looking for if it was safe, but Diego was also seeing if he saw any signs of a trap such as a light form the room(if possible to see), noise from the room, or any vehicles that seemed out of place. Generally things he was trained to check for when doing more clandestine dealings. If it seems clear, Diego puts the key mentally being ready for anything.
Perception 28
While I have no idea what one would look for, I am hoping Diego would have had some training in that regard for walking into a trap. If other rolls are needed for that let me know. I also didn't want to just assume it was all good either, so withheld the bit about messaging the others.

Iona

The shack isn't that big. It was a two rooms, and one of them is a bathroom. The main room consists of a stove, a couch, a desk, a beck, and a sink. There is an electric heater in one corner of the room and a fan in another. Of the two, the fan is the only one on. Once inside the two men settle into the couch. While they leave Iona alone they remain on guard and alert.

When Iona check the duffel bag containing the clothes and supplies that had been left for her, she doesn't find her usual style. Normally Iona either dresses for the lab and infirmary or to be as nondescript an unnoticeable as possible. The clothes she found were better described as 'sexy' or 'elegant', with high heels, makeup meant for beautifying rather than obscuring, perfume, and a set of earrings.

A couple hours pass. It has been quiet. The one of Iona's ... what are they? Guards? Companions? Escorts? Captors? Not that they could contain her if they were trying to entrap her. In any case, one of them receives a phone call. After a brief exchange in Spanish he hangs up and get's Iona's attention. It's time to see Romper.

As you leave the shack, Iona notices the sun setting over the horizon. The night will soon fall. The three of your climb into the buggy. After traversing the desert, you switch vehicles at the edge for the city. A car with tinted windows was waiting for you. The city starts to light up as the sun descends and the moon is on it's ascension. Looking out the window Iona sees people trying to maintain normalcy in the face of the Macro-Virus. Police and military vehicles are on patrol, but there aren't any actual check points within the city itself.

It isn't the strip that you travel, however, The buildings here are more worn down. Lower income. The car pulls in behind a nondescript building with a parking lot out front and guard at the door. Once parked the two men exit the vehicle. The one on the passenger side opens Iona's door for her and she is escort inside, past the guard. There is music inside. Bouncing, thrumming music.

Iona is escorted through hallways, closer to the music, before she is stopped at a black door with the letters VIP printed on it in gold the door is opened for her, but Iona is left to enter alone. Inside is a spacious room with comfortable seating. A large flat screen TV is mounted on one wall. There is a window over looking the main floor of a club. People are dancing. Others mingle at a bar. Lights are flashing. The music itself cannon be heard. The VIP appears sound proofed.

Romper, the Jaguar headed man, is standing in front of the window, watching the scene like a predator watching herd animals. His attire is a mix of grays and black. Stylish, but very 'street' The clothing is loose, drawing attention away from the impressive physique Iona had had see during their brief first encounter.

OOC wrote:You can decide what exactly the clothes look like, but they're definitely more feminine and eye catching than Iona's more professional and 'don't notice me' choices have been.

Diego

In the back of the motel there is a 'staff parking' sign, dissuading people from parking behind the establishment. It is dirty and dented. Two cars are already parked in the small space. If Diego wants to avoid ruffling feathers with the staff he can still park across the street. There is a dumpster in the back as well. Where there is no camera at the back of the motel there is a disheveled man with a beard and a beanie is digging through the dumpster. When he sees Diego, the man gives him a mean look. When Diego tests the back door of the motel, he finds it locked. With the dumpster diver watching him, it is a poor time to change shape or slip through door cracks.
OOC wrote:I'm going to stop there, as I do not what to assume what kind of action would taken. Hold onto that Perception roll thoug. I'll let you use it later.

I'm also going to say you didn't change forms yet, as I doubt Diego would do so in front of the dumpster diver. Diego also is not in the form he checked in with.
Deciding not to risk creating friction with the hotel operators Diego parks across the street and heads around to the front of the establishment. No one bothers him. No one wants to be bothered. In this sort of place it is best to forget what you saw and mind your own business. That's why Diego picked it, even though it is crappy. Lingering at the door to your room Diego listens. Sex sounds from one of the nearby rooms. Nothing from your's. He heads inside, checks the place out with his eyes. Nothing. It is just as you left it.

Iona sees the clothes provided for her in the duffel-bag...and smiles. Though Doctor Sokolov made her to be inhumanly beautiful, the magnitude of his efforts has taken time to "sink in". As a new creation, the young cyborg was simply naïve about her own comeliness. But over time, she has become acutely aware of the affect that she can have on people, especially men.

She pulls each item out of the bag and scrutinizes it. She is relieved that the articles of clothing are reasonably classy. And while the sequined, fuchsia, cocktail dress is not something one would see on the upper west side of Manhattan, it is far from the "hoochie" party dresses worn in many cosmopolitan dance-clubs. The elegant, silver, open-toed heels and matching silver earrings please her as well. I'm sure this Romper sees lots of pretty women in his business dealings. Wait until he sees me!

Iona trusts Romper's henchmen to provide her with a safe passage to wherever they are taking her. After getting dressed and departing from the shack, she relaxes for a change. Instead of looking in the sky for income fighter jets and attack helicopters or along the road for tanks, APCs, and soldiers, she marvels at the beauty of the setting sun in the desert...something she has never seen during her short life in Hadron City.

When she arrives at the unimpressive building, she wonders if she might still be a little overdressed. Iona walks through the crowd at the night club as a silent observer. She smiles and acknowledges the bouncers without saying a word. A quiet "thank you" in her gentle voice is uttered to the men who escort to Romper's VIP room. Once inside, she walks up to the window and stands beside her host. Looking out over the crowd of people, she stands hands clasped in front of her. After a few moments of silence, she finally speaks. "I am grateful for your aid. Your men appeared just in time."

Turning to look at her host, she looks him up and down. "You've been doing well since I saw you last. Is this place yours or are you just visiting?"
OOC: Here's Iona's Deception Roll to hide her wounds with make-up: Deception Roll to Hide Wounds: 1d20+8 14. So, a total of 14.

Iona

When Iona approached the window Romper's head turned to look at her. That predatory feline stare now on her. Without hiding the fact that he was taking in the sight of her Romper looked the woman up and down. Just once though.

"Iona. Good to see you survived."

Did he mean their last encounter, where she invaded his den and he knocked her out leaving her die in a flaming ruin filled with toxic fumes? Or did he mean here recent engagement with the National Guard and LVPD? Both?

The question about the club receives an almost dismissive response, suggesting that the place wasn't important to him.

"A side business that will be closing soon if things go well."

Turning Romper brought up one hand and moved it behind Iona's back, between the shoulder blades. With a light guiding pressure he manuvered to steer her towards a black leather cough as he himself made way to seat himself. There was no force behind the act and if she proved disinclined to go with the motion, Romper still crossed the room and sat down. Relaxing.

"When I learned you were in Vegas, I had to see you. I suspect it is too much to hope that you were trying to get my attention with all the havoc you've been wrecking."

There is a brief pause from the Jaguar, as though giving Iona an opportunity to state otherwise. Romper goes on soon, pressing Iona casually with a query.

"So, what manner of mischief has brought you here?"

OOC wrote:Is Iona using makeup to try to hide the damage she has taken? If so, make a Deception check.

The room seemed safe enough. No one gave the impression of paying too much attention to the room. It didn't mean there wasn't a surveillance van around. Luckily, the room wasn't terribly big, so Diego took a few minutes to check for obvious bugs in a manner of someone expecting to be jumped by a camera crew before texting the others to come in. No girls here. You lied to me man. Just me., is all Diego sends if he thinks it is all safe.

"So, what manner of mischief has brought you here?"
Iona allows Romper to guide her to the couch, where she takes a seat beside him. She relaxes herself and turns slightly to face him. "I wish I had the luxury of coming to Vegas merely to cause mischief.", she says with an even tone - no hint of distress or humor. "I shall not attempt to beguile you as you seem to have me at quite a disadvantage...again."

She pauses for a moment and allow the barest trace of a smile to emerge. "I'm quite impressed. Your men made contact with me in my moment of utmost need. How long have you known that I was here in Vegas?"

When John receives The Dark Ascendant's text, pulls he hood over his head and dons his sunglasses. "We've been summoned." is all he says to Aiden as he gets out of the vehicle and heads into the motel as inconspicuously as possible.

His mind is still lingering on the big fight they just had. Ambushes and skirmishes in Afghanistan are nothing like this stuff. It's espionage-like infiltration followed by super-powered ass-kicking when things go wrong. There's gonna be a lot of soul-searching about my role if I survive this mission.

Aiden Starr
HP: 3, Condition: Fatigued

Aiden simply nods as John makes his comment. He gets out and follows behind the immature soldier as they make their way.

He tries to look around a bit without moving his head much. He didn't want to draw much attention and a person actively looking around at others might draw unwanted attention from people not wanting to be noticed.

Really, he's just trying to be cautious and watch out for trouble.

He hoped he would never have to deal with someone like John again. He had known soldiers that screwed up. But they were able to admit their mistake and move on. John still thinks he did nothing wrong and is behaving like a seven-year-old who is being picked on by a bully. Such a ridiculous site. There was no point engaging with him anymore than absolutely necessary. Even if he has skills, his attitude makes him utterly worthless.

Aiden was looking forward to getting in the shower, but the child will probably try to push his way in first. Whatever. He is just proving Aiden's point.

Iona

Romper's feline eyes scrutinized Iona like a piece of meat. As though he were debating which part of her to bite into. After a few seconds he let out something between a growl and a sigh.

"I suppose I cannot fault a woman for maintaining an air of mystery."

Shortly after Iona's question about how long he had been aware of her activities in Vegas, the jaguar headed man let out a quick rumbling laugh.

"Since you showed up on the news flying through the air with a Hadron-tech jet and a flying Impala. After that I cast a net and waited for you to make some noise. Woman, when you go loud, you really go loud."

The right side of the jaguar's lips pulled back revealing a white fang as he leaned a little closer to Iona.

"There is something you could do to thank me. A couple somethings, but ones enough. You can choose your flavor."

"It'd do me good to have a lovely lady with a reputation such as your's accompany me as I run some business the next couple days. Just talking, flexing, and keeping me company. "

"I also scrounged up a Hadron-tech battery. Needs charging. While I could pull a job to siphon power off a dam, a power plant, or some other place ... it'd be messy and loud. Anything less would take forever to charge it and I don't have forever. Maybe you have enough juice to fill it up fast."

OOC wrote:Iona has a temporary Complication, in that she owes Romper a favor for bailing her out. He's proposing two options for her to choose from:

1.) Be his arm candy/lend him your reputation (Iona just took on the National Guard and has been duking it out with Stronghold off and on) as he does some bad guy politicking. The goal being to make Romper look good as he socializes with some villainous figures. This will keep Iona away from the team and in Romper's company for a couple days.

2.) Use her powers to juice up the Hadron-tech battery he mentioned. This won't take more than a few minutes of Iona's time. It will, however, drain Iona of her electric powers until she get's repaired at Dr. Sokolov's. It won't affect her magnetic powers.

There is an unspoken third option, find a way to repay him on Iona's terms but the longer this takes the more hostile he'll become towards her over time until she pays the debt. If she decides not to repay Romper, he'll go from friendly towards her to hostile and you'll have a new Enemy Complication.

"It's been a long day, let's get some rest and clean up. So much more fun to have later. Might even get lucky. Maybe.", says Diego fully aware he could be heard through the walls. They needed to rest. Time was running short and if they didn't grab the target this whole mission would be for naught. Iona had already gotten away from the troops, but where she was Diego didn't know. He didn't particularly care if he was being honest with people. On most topics, he lied like the devil. On Iona, to the right audiences, he would be as truthful as a repentant sinner at their baptism.

Before finding a vent to fall int his native form into for some rest, Diego made sure to rig a simple trap at the door with anything that would make a bit of noise if someone came in. Nothing too complicated, but still something.
Military Expertise 19. If other skill needed, he rolled a 13 on the d20.
