Disabled (Aquatic)- Fish typically will not last long on land- they are borderline immobile, can't defend themselves, and will slowly dehydrate or suffocate.
Weakness (Small Size)- At their natural size, these fish are vulnerable to large creatures- even without good accuracy. Anything of Size Rank -2 or more (human size and up) using a melee attack on these fish effectively strike with Burst Area Damage at their strength rank naturally.

Total: Abilities: -36 / Skills: 16--8 / Advantages: 5 / Powers: 35 / Defenses: 7 (19)

Era: Modern Day
Range: Mostly Africa.
Stereotypes: Emotionless, blank creatures.
Colouring: Various colors
Size: Up to 12 inches long (less than a pound)
Encounter Groups: Small groups.
Diet: Tiny invertebrates.
Tactics: Flee at all costs. Snuff out prey with electrolocation.

-Elephantfish are typically quite small (though some grow up to 5 feet long)- they are named for the elongated snouts some specimens have, enabling them to dig invertebrates out of the seafloor. Short-nosed ones are often given names like "Stonebasher". Others resemble knives, and have the same name as the Knifefish of South America, though they are also called "Featherbacks". They also have large brains for their size (almost human-like), making them a bit smarter than other fish, and they can also detect prey by electrolocation. There are hundreds of species in the family, related to the Dragonfish.

-The massive Arapaima is the world's largest freshwater fish- 10-foot, 200+ lb. giants that swim the Amazon river. They are an important source of food to people in that region. Males will hide the young in their mouths, protecting them in this manner while the female circles around it as another line of defense.

-Another dull one, the order of Antheriniformes are made up of the fish called "Silversides", none of which are bigger than 17 inches long. They're named for their shiny, silvery sides, as you might imagine. Rainbowfish are popular in aquariums for their extra-bright coloration.

-Beardfish are an order of poorly-understood deep-sea fish named for the small barbels on their chins. The order is called the Polymixiiformes, but has changed repeatedly as they move about to different families.

Ummm. One of the definitions of toxic is "poisonous" and venoms are poisonous. "Toxic" and "venomous" are synonyms.

Science always seemed kinda up in the air about that. Many of the monitors are a little venomous so it’s likely. But yeah I just left the description as-is.

-Paddlefish are related to the Sturgeons, and are truly ancient- they've changed little since they first evolved 120-150 million years ago. One of the more primitive fish left standing, they're named for the flat, rounded thing at the end of their long snouts (yes, the scientific name includes "spathula"). The American Paddlefish is native to the Mississippi River basin in the U.S. and the Chinese Paddlefish... which is unfortunately now extinct as of 2019, last seen in the Yangtze River in 2003. Paddlefish are notable for having soft "notochord" spines past the embryonic stage- almost every other vertebrate has hardened spines by adulthood. Like most large fish, they are long-lived (up to 60 years or more), and age slowly.

-The American Paddlefish is a filter-feeder, and maxes out around 60 lbs.- the Chinese version was predatory and much larger (like 26 feet long!). The rostrum (ie. long nose) of the Paddlefish has been conclusively proven to have electroreceptors- primitive sensory organs that can detect the electricity given off by living creatures at a distance (sharks have similar things). This makes up for their extremely poor eyesight (their eyes are undeveloped).

-Most Sturgeon encountered across the world are about this size, especially now that larger animals are hard to come by due to over-harvesting. The young of large Sturgeons are usually this size, but naturally around this tier are the Pallid Sturgeon (30-60 inches, 85 lbs.), Shortnose Sturgeon (60 lbs.), Adriatic Sturgeon (30-90 lbs., likely extinct in the wild), and the Starry Sturgeon of Europe (180 lbs.), as well as the Sterlet (about 40-60 lbs.).

-These Sturgeons begin to approach "real predator" status, but still have no teeth and typically just suck up smaller prey.

-These Sturgeons are the true heavy-hitters, but are still mostly-toothless predators that use their size mainly as a way to avert predation than to attack, as they hunt smaller creatures and suck them up whole. The Lake Sturgeon of the Great Lakes (7 feet, 240 lbs.), Gulf Sturgeon (8 feet, 150-220 lbs.), Green Sturgeon (7 feet, 350 lbs.), Japanese Sturgeon (10 feet, 400 lbs.), Dabry's Sturgeon (8 feet), Siberian Sturgeon (140-450 lbs.), and the Russian Sturgeon (255 lbs.). Even the giants of Sturgeon-kind like the Beluga & Atlantic Sturgeon are more likely to be this size than the later builds, as most of them don't hit far over 400 lbs., especially these days.
