Where do short tail rays fall or are the stingers yet to come?

They're getting posted afterwards. The Stingers are an entire different Power that changes the builds.

-The majestic, famous Manta Rays are known the world over for their huge size and fairly peaceful nature. They are the only Devil Rays that are particularly well-studied, and are featured in things like ecotourism, where they're easily drawn in by bright lights and food so swimmers can see these giants up close. Their huge jumps are also spectacular, as most Devil Rays can readily breach the water and slam back down. The reasons for this behavior are still somewhat unknown, but knocking off parasites may be a reason. Mantas have passed the "mirror test" to determine self-awareness, and have the largest brain-to-body ratios of any fish.

-Manta Rays are incredibly-large and cool-looking, but are rather defenseless against predators like Sharks & Orcas- aside from their ability to swim fast, they can't really fight back. They lack the adaptations necessary for defense- being so large (and quite a bit faster than most fish), they usually didn't have to.

-Electric Rays are one of the orders of Skates & Rays- the most famous of which is the Torpedo Ray, which is actually the originator of the name "torpedo", and why those aquatic missiles are called that, not the other way around. They move about via their stout, muscular tails and not their pectoral fins like other Rays. Electric Rays are possibly the most electrosensitive of all animals, and can deliver powerful shocks of up to 220 volts! There are 60 species of Electric Rays in all. The Torpedos & relatives feed on large prey like herrings & croakers, which are stunned using electric organs (1/6th the animals weight and containing parallel battery circuits!) and swallowed whole, while the Narcinids eat small prey in the seafloors. Both use electricity for defense, curling up like a towel with their bellies projected outwards to allow for maximum exposure of the zapping parts.

-People have known about Electric Rays since antiquity- the Ancient Greeks used their shocks to numb the pain of childbirth and operations. The Atlantic Torpedo is the largest, weighing up to 200 lbs. (!), and the Pacific Electric Ray can hit up to 90 lbs. Though in all cases, smaller sizes are more typical- 20-40 lbs is probably more likely.

-Smaller Electric Rays include most of the "Torpedo" genus, including the Gulf, Florida & Black-Spotted Torpedo Rays- all are less than a meter wide and weigh 25 lbs. or less. Similar animals include the Narke genus (Numbray, Japanese Sleeper Ray), Coffin Rays (named for the shape their bloated bodies make in death when stranded on beaches), and the Sleeper Rays. There are also a pair of little-understood New Zealand types, including the Blind Electric Ray, which is indeed unable to see. They're still PL 4 owing to a powerful Stun (non-fatal in most animals) but are otherwise small, weak fish. The Narcinids, including the Oscellated Electric Ray, are also very small and haven't been seen using their shocks to hunt- merely to defend. They eat shrimp and sea worms and the like.

-These are among the smaller rays- some Eagle Rays, like the Mottled, Japanese, Southern & Common Eagle Rays, and the Bullnose Ray, are this size. Small whiptails, like the Common, Estuary, Blue & Groovebelly Stingrays, are around this size as well. The Common Stingray can actually grow quite massive, though most are barely 3 feet across- they were studied in classical antiquity, being very common in the Mediterranean sea. Red Stingrays are among the more common at this size-level- they can grow up to 24 lbs., but are more likely here. Other whiptails here include the Mekong Freshwater, male Southern, and Sharpnose Stingrays. The Cownose Rays are also at this level- common in their region, they are familiar to many Americans. Many of the freshwater River Stingrays are also this size, such as the Discus Ray- not all are giants. The Crossback Stingaree is so notorious for stabbing people (it can do so to someone touching any part of its body, thanks to the flexibility of its tail) that fishermen used to "spike" them with metal rods, piercing their skulls before dumping them from their nets.

-Bat Rays are typically 20-30 lbs, but rare specimens can weigh up to 200 lbs. The Broad Stingray, a whiptail stingray, can grow to 140 lbs. but is typically less than three feet across and about this size. Other whiptails include the Diamond Stingray, Longnose Stingray, Daisy Stingray, Pink Whipray, and female Southern Stingrays, which rapidly move their pectoral fins to stir up prey in the substrate. Most Pelagic Stingrays are around this size (males never grow larger than this)- these encircle the globe and are very common, active hunters. The Porcupine Ray doesn't have a stinger, but has thorns all over its tail, giving it similar stats, and the Porcupine RIVER Stingray can grow up to 30 lbs. The Sixgill Stingray is the only member of its family, unique among rays for its namesake- six gill slits instead of five. They grow up to 5.6 feet long, and are believed to be the most ancient and "basal" of the stingray lineage. Other freshwater stingrays at this size is China's Polka-Dot Stingray and the Oscellate River Stingray.

-The Ornate Eagle Ray is about 2.4 meters wide at the disc, and nearly twice as long with the tail. It is little-seen. The Bull Rays are Critically-Endangered. Exceptionally large specimens of Common & Broad Stingrays can easily reach this size, but are much more commonly seen one or two size categories smaller. The Longtail Stingray of western North American waters maxes out at 100+ lbs., as does the female Pelagic Stingray (one of the world's most common, though it's usually only 2 feet across). The Round Ribbontail Ray and Round Fantail Ray can both reach up to 330 lbs, and the Leopard & Reticulate Whiprays are up to six feet across and 10 feet long. The Deepwater Stingray, or Giant Stingaree, is the only member of its family and a 260-lb., 9-foot monster.

Total: Abilities: -6 / Skills: 16--8 / Advantages: 0 / Powers: 11 / Defenses: 5 (18)

Era: Modern Day
Range: Southern Hemisphere.
Stereotypes: Emotionless, blank creatures.
Colouring: White, grey, brown, black
Size: Up to 3-11 feet across (50-770 lbs.)
Encounter Groups: Solitary or small groups.
Diet: Tiny crustaceans & molluscs.

-The largest in the world is the Short-Tailed Stingray, growing up to 14 feet and 770 lbs.! Though unaggressive and easily trained to hand-feed from humans, they are so large and common they are responsible for the greatest amount of stingray-related injuries, particularly around New Zealand. In fact, a Short-Tailed Stingray is responsible for the death of Steve Irwin, puncturing his heart when he approached it from above. Other large Whiptail Stingrays include the Roughtail Stingray. The Short-Tailed River Stingray can grow up to 490 lbs.

-The Spotted Eagle Ray can weigh up to 500 lbs.- they are commonly seen alone, but may travel in small groups. Despite being very large and having venomous barbs on their tails, they only hunt small animals and are preyed upon by several species of sharks in their Florida Keys habitat. The Smalleye Stingray is quite rare and unique (being much wider than long), and up to 10 feet long. The Cowtail Stingray of the Pacific ocean is a massive 550-lb. monster- though huge, these fish & crab-eaters are preyed upon by hammerhead sharks and bottlenose dolphins, swimming away in a 45-degree angle to maximize distance and keep the animal in their field of vision.

-These animals are true giants and can do a lot of damage. Though +2 isn't much by the standards of an 800-lb. animal, that's about what a normal man can do with a sword, so it's plenty dangerous.
