Important PJO Setting Notes

Post by DalkonCledwin »

There are a few major events in Rick's world that are worth noting, these are as follows:
  • The First Titanomachy & Giant War, which both occurred at an undisclosed time in antiquity
  • The First Demigod Civil War, due to events surrounding the American Civil War, a smaller scale civil war broke out in the areas surrounding Camp Half-Blood during the year 1864. This war was fought between the Greeks (who allied with the Union Army), and the Romans (who allied with the Confederate Army). This was the reason that Camp Half-Blood was separated from Camp Jupiter.
  • World War II saw another civil war break out between Half-Bloods, with the children of Zeus and Poseidon siding with the Allied Forces, while the children of Hades sided with the Axis Powers. This is what spurred the Pact between the Big Three.
  • The Second Titanomachy, which served as the backdrop for the first set of Percy Jackson novels, occurred between the years 2007 and 2009.
  • The Second Giant War, which served as as the backdrop for the second set of Percy Jackson novels, occurred between the years 2009 and 2010.
Major Locations of Note include but are not limited to the following:
  • Camp Half-Blood, Long Island, New York
  • Olympus, Empire State Building, 600th Floor, New York
  • The Underworld, Los Angeles, California
  • Mount Orthys is located on Mount Talampais, California
  • 21st Nome, Brooklyn House, Brooklyn, New York
  • Camp Jupiter, San Francisco, California
  • Waystation, Union Station, Indianapolis, Indiana
The Mist: It may or may not need to be said, but the Mist is a natural magical cloaking force that prevents mortals from seeing the whole truth of the world and tricks their brains into seeing what they want. This is an ability which is almost never going to be listed on a character's stat block unless that character is in some way connected to Hekate/Trivia as she is the Patron Goddess who governs this force. It can also be said that the witches and wizards from Potterverse, when crossed over with Percy Jackson, have a natural ability to tap into the Mist, which is what allows them to use magic to begin with, since Magic in Percy Jackson is almost always defined as one form of Mystokinesis or another.

Names Have Power: This "rule" pops up rather frequently in the first Percy Jackson novel, and will occasionally recur in the following instalments. It seems to work similarly to the "True Name" rules from Dungeons and Dragons 3.5, but instead of allowing someone to secure the cooperation of extradimensional entities by speaking their "True Name" it draws the entity's attention to whoever was so foolish as to speak their name. Worse, however, is the fact that the name in question is never an obscure name, but rather the most common name that the entity has ever been known by. For instance, Percy's mother stops him from saying the word "Minotaur" for this very reason, when the beast's actual name is Asterion.

--------------------
Generic Demigod Complications:
- Disability: Demigods are known to possess varying levels of dyslexia, due to the fact that their brains are hardwired for the native language of their divine parent. Demigods who are children of Aphrodite are also known to possess fluency in French, and those who are children of Hecate will possess fluency in Latin.
- Divine Presence: Every demigod gives off a distinct scent that could attract monsters to their location, and they are advised against using cell phones for the same basic reason, since monsters can track their voices through the cellular signal. However, the scent can be concealed using certain types of magic.
- Reckless: Demigods are known to possess many of the same symptoms as someone with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, and can therefore be incredibly impulsive.

Premise: Every demigod has one divine parent, this much we know; however, Harry Potter was different for a very good reason. Through obscure and divine methods, he has two divine parents instead of just one. What is perhaps more interesting, is that his divine parents are none other than Lord Hades and Lady Persephone.
Required Inclusions:
- Harry must possess a Light or Gray moral alignment in spite of his remarkably dark divine parentage. This is actually possible from a historic perspective, even if unlikely.
- Harry must be remarkably powerful, since his father is one of the Big Three Gods from Greek mythology, meaning that Harry will actually be on par with fellow demigod, Percy Jackson.
- The exact starting point for the story will be up to the author, but Harry must spend at least one of his summers prior to the Triwizard Tournament at Camp Half-Blood.
- Harry must actually be the reincarnation of Prince Zagreus of the Underworld, which will be in addition to his status as the youngest son of Lord Hades and Lady Persephone.
- Harry must inherit powers over darkness and rebirth from his divine parents, and he must also be given a blessing by Hekate that allows him to manipulate her Divine Mist.
- Hades must send Harry a sword that has been forged from Stygian Iron at some point after claiming the boy as his son while Harry is attending Camp Half-Blood.
Preferred Inclusions:
- Harry’s primary romantic interest should be the demigod known as Piper McLean, who is one of several daughters belonging to the Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite.
- In this scenario, Voldemort’s theft of Harry’s blood will mark him as a more suitable host for Kronos than the canonical option, since our young hero is actually the Greek god of rebirth.
- Harry has a good relationship with his divine siblings and cousins, all of whom will be extremely happy that he’s returned to them.
Optional Inclusions:
- Harry could end up with a small harem of beautiful women due to the fact that Piper will want him to be surrounded by as much love as possible, and because she is apparently bisexual.
- Harry could become the new Lord of the Underworld after his father decides to retire.
Forbidden Things:
- Harry giving up on his godly powers and abilities.
- Harry being romantically attracted to men.
- Harry the Malevolent Emo Doormat.

Complications
- Dyslexia: Harry’s brain is hard-wired with the ability to read Ancient Greek, which means that it's immensely difficult, if not impossible, for him to read words written in other languages. This is part of what makes his lessons under Severus Snape so problematic.
- Enemies: Harry would be very wise to regard Lord Zeus and Lord Poseidon as potential enemies, and possibly even threats to his very existence. Unfortunately, this is all before mentioning the Dark Lord Voldemort, who is actively trying to kill the young demigod.
- Motivation: Protector: Harry is highly motivated to use his powers to protect others. He willingly puts himself at risk to defend innocents and those he cares about.
- Nemesis: Albus Dumbledore wishes to use Harry as a sacrificial lamb that he can throw at Voldemort in hopes that the boy's death will act the catalyst which will allow the old man to swoop in and defeat the Dark Lord once and for all. Defeat, but certainly not vanquish!
- Relationships: Harry's closest, and thus most exploitable, relationships are with his girlfriend, Piper McLean, as well as his godfather, Sirius Black; the latter of whom is the proud bearer of a "Kiss on Sight" order issued by the British Ministry for Magic.

Ischýs Mou i Agápi Toú Laoú Brainstorm & Notes

Post by DalkonCledwin »

Ischýs Mou i Agápi Toú Laoú
Premise: Albus Dumbledore never knew how right he was to say that Love was the thing that Voldemort knew not, because he never knew that Harry Potter was the son of Aphrodite, the Grecian goddess of said concept.
Required Inclusions:
- Harry Potter must be one of the many children of the goddess known as Aphrodite. This means that he will be a demigod, with all that such a heritage would normally entail.
- Harry must become romantically involved with at least three girls; but that is just the minimum number of girls that he will be involved with.
- Harry must attend Hogwarts until at least his third year of magical education, what happens after that point in time is up to the author’s interpretation.
- Harry must be romantically involved with at least one girl that is from Potterverse, and at least one other who is from Riordanverse. The identities of these girls is up to the author.
- Harry’s romantic partners must be completely loyal to him, which means that it would probably be for the best if love potion plots were not a part of this scenario.
- Harry must become involved in the war against Kronos, though it is up to the author to decide what he contributes to this war, as well as which side he fights on.
Preferred Inclusions:
- Harry should possess powerful hydrokinetic abilities, which will serve to distinguish him from the other children of Aphrodite. This should be an inheritance from his grandmother, Thalassa.
- One of the girls in Harry’s harem should be Athena, who was trapped in the form of a snowy owl (Hedwig) for an unspecified amount of time, and subsequently fell in love with Harry.
- Athena’s return to her true body should occur no earlier than the summer after what would be Harry’s fourth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Optional Inclusions:
- The other girls in the harem could be one or more of the following: Thalia Grace, Clarisse La Rue, Annabeth Chase, Fleur Delacour, Daphne Greengrass, and/or Susan Bones.
- Harry’s harem could also include one of his maternal half-sisters.
Forbidden Things:
- Harry betraying the girls in his harem.
- Athena remaining a perpetual virgin.
- Khaos being part of the harem.

- Dyslexia: Harry’s brain is hard-wired with the ability to read Ancient Greek, which means that it's immensely difficult, if not impossible, for him to read words written in other languages. This is part of what made his lessons under Severus Snape so problematic.
- Enemies: As if Voldemort weren't enough of a problem for Harry, it turns out that he also has to worry about Headmaster Albus Dumbledore trying to orchestrate his life in such a way as to make it impossible for Harry to live past his eighteenth birthday. And that is all before getting to the monsters who would gladly kill Harry simply because he is the son of a Greek goddess.
- Motivation: Protector: Harry is highly motivated to use his powers to protect others. He willingly puts himself at risk to defend innocents and those he cares about.
- Odd Duck: Permanent Makeup seems to have absolutely no effect on the appearance of Harry’s seemingly windswept hair, which naturally confounds his sisters.
- Relationships: Harry's closest, and thus most exploitable, relationships are with his girlfriends, the goddess known as Athena Parthenos, the demigoddess known as Piper McLean, and the witch known as Daphne Greengrass; as well as his godfather, Sirius Black; the latter of whom is the proud bearer of a "Kiss on Sight" order issued by the British Ministry for Magic.

You are an extremely attractive member of your chosen gender, stunning others with your looks. When you use an interaction skill against a character controlled by the GM, success brings said character’s attitude towards you one step closer to Helpful, in addition to the normal effects of the interaction task you attempted (see Persuasion, page 124-125 of the Deluxe Hero’s Handbook), because she just feels good that such a good-looking person is talking to her. If you are using the Diplomacy skill precisely to improve NPCs’ attitudes, a success would actually improve their attitude by two steps. Once you enjoy this effect, you cannot use it again during the same interaction with the same person. You can only affect a single target up to 30 feet away from you; with each additional rank, the range of this effect increases by one step on the Distance column of the Ranks & Measures table while the number of targets increases by one step on the Amounts Table (Misfit Studio's Better Mousetrap, Page 77). The attitude gains from this feat are temporary. After a few minutes out of your sight, the target’s or targets’ attitudes return to normal (unless you successfully improved them with regular interaction check)

My Starry Night Sky Brainstorm & Notes

Post by DalkonCledwin »

My Starry Night Sky
Premise: Leto, the devoted mother of the twin archer gods Artemis and Apollo, never thought that she would ever have other children than her little moon and darling sun. But it seems that the Fates had other plans in store for her. After living the mortal life of Lily Evans Potter, Leto birthed her very first demigod, Harry James Potter. Her starry night sky.
Required Inclusions:
- Due to feeling bored, out of her mind, and lonely, with her children always attending to their divine duties, Leto, titan goddess of motherhood, decided to live as a mortal for a single lifetime.
- Leto incarnated herself as a mortal magic user from Trivia’s favored who will be known as Lily Evans, the future mother to the Boy Who Lived.
- It was in part due to Leto’s influence in Lily’s personality that made her so difficult for James to woo as a teen, since the young man’s massive ego made her think of Zeus’ worst aspects.
- Even if she was mortal at the time, Leto/Lily’s new son will be a half-blood in both the divine and wizarding sense of the phrase.
- After the fateful Halloween night that cost her the life of her mortal husband, Leto must be incapacited just long enough for Headmaster Dumbledore to place Harry with the Dursley family.
- Even though she is aware of the Pact created by the Olympians, Leto simply won’t abandon her baby boy to Petunia’s tender mercies. She’ll reclaim her son as swiftly as she can.
- Since Harry will be Leto’s first demigod child, a higher percentage of her power will flow through his blood, making him an equal to the children of the Big Three.
- Harry will have inherited the magic of his father, making him a wizard and favored of Hecate; however, his attendance at a magical academy will be entirely optional.
- Harry’s primary romantic interest must be either Piper McLean or Thalia Grace, though other girls can be involved if they acquire either Piper or Thalia’s approval.
- Harry should be in the same age group as Percy Jackson and his friends, and he should also arrive at Camp Half-Blood in close proximity to when Percy himself is set to arrive.
- While Harry is not the child of the Great Prophecy, his actions must still act like rock thrown into a pond due to the ripples he’ll cause in the tapestry of fate.
- Ironically, it must be Artemis who convinces their mother to let Harry attend Camp Half-Blood so he can meet and make friends with people in his own age group.
Preferred Inclusions:
- Apollo and Artemis should dote upon their younger brother, to the point of sometimes being rather suffocating and/or embarrassing, much to their mother’s amusement.
- Leto should take baby Harry back to the island of Delos in Greece, since she and the twin archer gods still hold a level of sovereignty on that particular island.
- It should be easier for minor deities to get around Zeus’ decrees than it is for the Olympians, since they are rarely in the presence of their king unless they are his direct subordinates.
- Hera should be one of Harry’s fiercest supporters outside of the Letoide twins on the Olympian council, since his parents were happily married when he was born.
- In this scenario, Hestia should have a cabin of her own in Camp Half-Blood due to how important she was for the people of ancient Greece.
- The prophecy linking Harry to Tom Riddle should be seen as false, since it wasn’t given by one of Apollo’s Oracles, or any of the other Oracles linked to the Greek pantheon.
Optional Inclusions:
- Harry could be a partial Metamorph, having inherited the magical gift from his paternal grandmother, Lady Dorea Euphemia Potter, née Black.
- Harry could have a gift for magic related to the hours of dawn or twilight, which he may even have acquired from the blending of blessings given to him by his elder siblings.
- Harry could encounter a patrol of Roman demigods while he is vacationing on the west coast of the United States, what happens as a result of this interaction is up to the author.
Forbidden Things:
- Harry taking Mister D’s snide comments personally.
- Harry becoming a womanizer like his elder brother.
- Leto allowing the Scarcrux to fester if it exists.
- Harry being romantically interested in men.
- Harry siding with the enemies of Olympus.
- Harry the Malevolent Emo Doormat.

Complications
- Disability: Demigods, like Harry, are known to possess varying levels of dyslexia, due to the fact that their brains are hardwired for the native language of their divine parent. Harry is unusual in that he can read Latin as easily as he can Ancient Greek.
- Enemy: The dark wizard known as Voldemort will stop at nothing in order to remove Harry as a threat to his continued existence, which means that he would actually be willing to kill Harry should their paths intersect with one another.
- Honor: Harry will always keep his word once he has given it to someone, strives to uphold the common good, and is never underhanded in his dealings.
- Motivation: Protector: Harry is highly motivated to use his powers to protect others. He willingly puts himself at risk to defend innocents and those he cares about.
- Reckless: Demigods, like Harry, are known to possess many of the same symptoms as someone with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, and can therefore be incredibly impulsive
- Relationships: Harry is the son of Leto Chryselakatos (aka Lily Potter, nee Evans) and James Potter, which means he is also the younger half-brother of Artemis Agrotera and Apollo Belenus. This also means he is the uncle of everyone who dwells within Cabin No. 7 at Camp Half-Blood. He is also the godson of Lord Sirius Black.

Grab, +6 (DC Spec 13)
Throw, +6 (DC 18)
Unarmed, +6 (DC 18)

Complications
- Accidental Seductions: Piper doesn't have full control over her Charmspeak, and will sometimes use it on people without intending to do so. This can lead to rather embarrassing situations, both for Piper, and for whoever she unwittingly seduces.
- Disability: Demigods, like Piper, are known to possess varying levels of dyslexia, due to the fact that their brains are hardwired for the native language of their divine parent. Like all children of Aphrodite, Piper is as fluent in French as she is Ancient Greek.
- Impulsive: Demigods, like Piper, are known to possess many of the same symptoms as someone with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, and can therefore be incredibly reckless.
- Motivation: Recognition: Piper used to use her Charmspeak as a way to get her father to notice her. As such, it can be inferred that Piper is driven by a strong desire to be the center of attention for her loved ones.
- Relationships: Piper is one of the few Demigods who became friends with another of her kind before ever arriving at Camp Half-Blood, and that friend is a son of Hephaestus known as Leo Valdez. She is also good friends (and possibly more in time) with Harry Potter, and will regularly accompany him when he goes on Quests.
- Rivalry: Piper dislikes her cabin's counselor, Drew Tanaka, because the girl is cruel to the other children of Aphrodite and is known to support things that can be seen as unkind. Drew on the other hand, is harshly critical of Piper's tomboyish nature, and jealous of the fact that Piper was claimed by their mother less than a day after her arrival at Camp Half-Blood.

Prince of the Mists Brainstorm & Notes

Post by DalkonCledwin »

Prince of the Mists
Premise: Hecate, Greek goddess of magic and crossroads, should have known the consequences of using sacrificial magic while within a mortal vessel. When her «host» perished, she was loath to abandon her demigod son, and would certainly have taken him with her if not for Hades' intervention. Years later, Harry Potter receives a dream that sees him leaving Magical Britain behind.
Required Inclusions:
- In this particular scenario, Harry Potter is one of Hecate’s many demigod children, born while she was living under the guise of the witch known as Lily Potter (née Evans).
- Since Hecate used a sacrificial ritual to save her son from Voldemort, her intense love for him will see her favoring Harry just a slight bit more than her other children.
- As distasteful as it was to leave Harry in Petunia’s dubious care, the Blood Wards will keep him safe from the various monsters that like to prey on demigods.
- Harry’s scent as a Demigod will finally become too potent to hide after his adventures through time in his third year at Hogwarts when he conjures a fully corporeal Patronus.
- As such, Harry will need to make the journey to Camp Half-Blood to receive both training in the use of his powers, and for his protection from the aforementioned monsters.
- Harry’s primary romantic partner must be Silena Beauregard, but other girls are allowed to join in on the romantic activities if they gain Silena’s blessing.
- As a child of Hecate, Harry must absorb the knowledge and abilities contained within the fragment of Voldemort’s soul that was left in his scar, as though it were a Spoil of War.
- Harry must categorically refuse to return to live with the Dursley family, no matter how many times Headmaster Dumbledore insists.
- Harry’s arrival at Camp Half-Blood must either involve the assistance of the Centaurs in the Forbidden Forest, or else be a result of his experimentation with his Umbrakinetic abilities.
- Harry must erase Luke Castellan’s memories of the specific information he was using to blackmail Silena, preventing her from turning traitor in the future.
Preferred Inclusions:
- In this scenario, Hecate should swear an oath on the River Styx to stay neutral in the coming war against the Crooked One instead of siding with the Titan King.
- Harry should have one last shopping trip in Diagon Alley before leaving for the United States, where he secures a stock of magical camping gear.
- Harry’s control of the Mist should be exceptional, to the point that he would be able to remove every single memory from an enemy who lacks divine blood.
- Due to his status as Hecate’s favored child, the magical contract from the Goblet of Fire should fail to bind Harry and could instead latch onto Barty Crouch Jr.
- While Harry won’t be able to bypass the wards on Hogwarts Castle or those at Camp, he should be able to bypass those erected elsewhere in the mortal world rather easily.
Optional Inclusions:
- After having enough of the crowded space in Hermes’ cabin, Harry could pitch his Wizarding tent near Hestia’s Hearth and use it as his summer lodgings.
- Harry could lead a campaign to get the Olympian Council’s permission for the Minor Gods to build cabins for their children at Camp Half-Blood before the end of the 2nd Titanomachy.
- Sirius Black’s Animagus form could be a blessing (or curse) from Hecate in her Lily persona.
Forbidden Things:
- Harry being romantically interested in men.
- Harry siding with the enemies of Olympus.
- Harry relying on a wand for his magic.
- Harry, the Malevolent Emo Doormat.
- Harry becoming a Death Eater.

Complications
- Enemy: Luke Castellan is planning on blackmailing Silena into providing the Titans with intel on the residents of Camp Half-Blood, which would make her an unwilling accomplice in their renewed war on the gods of Olympus.
- Honor: Silena will always keep her word once she has given it to someone, strives to uphold the common good, and is never underhanded in her dealings.
- Motivation: Amor Vincit Omnia: Silena believes that the best way to solve all the world's problems is by spreading love, joy and happiness to as many people as possible! With that said, she acknowledges that some people need to be subjected to "Tough Love."
- Relationship: Silena is the daughter of Aphrodite, and half-sister to Piper McLean, Drew Tanaka, Lacy, Valentina Diaz, Mitchell, Eros, Phobos, Deimos. She has also struck up a friendship with Clarisse La Rue, a daughter of Ares (which might explain why Silena uses a spear as her weapon of choice).
- Rivalry: Children of Aphrodite don't usually participate in games of Capture-the-Flag, but when it's against the Hunters of Artemis... "I'll show them 'love is worthless'. I'll pulverize them!"
