I haven't this out very far but it intrigues me. What if neo-paladin's The Merge had happened in 1950? No anime, no superhero revival, no hanna-barbera cartoons, no star trek, no star wars, no RPGs. So what is there? Cowboys. Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon style sci-fi. All the monsters look like a man in a monster suit, or Boris Karloff. Godzilla. Drunkard detectives in run down single-room offices that She just walked into. Hitler's brain in a jar.
I don't plan to do anything with this. But it got stuck in my head today. And I'm releasing it here.
Now let's consider 1890... Jules Vern vs Edgar Rice Boroughs for sci-fi style.
The Merge Noir
Re: The Merge Noir
You're a couple decades early for ERB; try H.G. Wells instead.

Also, don't forget proto-superheroes like The Shadow...

I thought you were going Winnie-the-Pooh, there.betterwatchit wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 5:37 pm There would also be reports in Britain of animals that can talk to humans and of children with unusual abilities or skills. Look up the Beano and the Dandy to see what I mean.

I can also imagine the Island of Sodor and the North-Western Railway making it over as well.

Re: The Merge Noir
The comic scene in Britain was rather different to the American scene back then.
