"Not just for our own protection," comments Khemis. "But also simply to have other Sunstormers to talk to, people who even if our powers are all different, at least have some idea of what other Sunstormers are going through..."

"I've done my bit to try and make the narrative less anti-Sunstormer today," she adds. "Though my audience is not what you'd call huge. Hopefully I can push some of it to go more mainstream."

"As for phone, this is my number and email..." she says her burner phone number and a Khemis email address for the others.

"Well, if it helps, Charger and I are pretty fast in the air. If either you or Khemis need help, I can be there in a matter of minutes," Sunny assured Deborah. He had timed himself a few days ago, marking out a rough outline of Chicago's city perimeter - Sunny could break the sound barrier to make that circuit in under five minutes. Charger could probably reach similar speeds if she tried. Though, with a bashful note, Sunny confesses, "Will probably make up for being no-good at the social media thing. Never really got the hang of keeping updated with all those platforms and what-not, and my online follower-ship from before the Sunstorm was pretty-much nonexistent. I could also help with setting up VPNs, but I doubt we'll need any for a while - it's ten days since the Sunstorm and telecom networks are still struggling to recover, so we have some time before they're working well enough for governments to abuse and monitor us."

Actually... that gave Sunny an idea. After all, Deborah seemed to be a self-described internet-celeb and Khemis was apparently a cub journalist or something. They'd have the connections to people that Sunny lacked if he was going to be an effective hero. He turned to Deborah and Khemis, saying, "Still, keeping in touch should make it easier for all of us. These last few days, I've mostly been doing the superhero thing by flying around the city at random, waiting for trouble to inevitably pop up and catch my notice. It's not very efficient. But if you guys can figure out where trouble is brewing via social media and give me a heads-up, I can get there faster and do more than just knock out thugs and hooligans after they've caused harm. Or just help spread the message so that people will reach out to you (and thus, to all of us) for help or info on when shady things are going down. Like a social-media bat-signal. Would something like that actually work?"

"Thank you," says Khemis with a hard-to-see smile.

"The second thing might work better," replies Khemis after a moment's consideration. "Persuading people to alert us to trouble. The first one would probably need someone monitoring the socials pretty much full time. And even then it assumes people are publicly discussing upcoming trouble. I guess that's the sort of thing police informants and the like are better for..."

"But all of that still leaves us with the problem of stepping on the toes of the CPD, accusations of excessive force, whether we want to try and get deputised, and all that."

"I've been escorting supply convoys," she adds. "Sitting on the roof of the lead truck, letting anyone planning trouble that it might be more trouble than they thought. But it's obviously hard to have any idea of how much trouble has been avoided that way..."

Vickie Pulaski (Charger)

Vickie laughed softly, as if to herself. "And here I go, turning into a criminal right before your eyes- Looks like I'm going to have to pick up a couple of burner phones tomorrow. But I'll spend the rest of tonight talking to some of my people, some opinions I can trust. I guess it is a good idea, to build some connections, whatever we end up doing. Anybody wants to get serious about this, you probably want to get a police scanner app- might be better than social media, but it might also get you in trouble with the law. Given that we're probably headed for trouble with the law anyways, no matter how good are intentions are, you'll have to make that choice yourself..."

Police scanner apps weren't, strictly speaking, illegal in Illinois (though they were, mostly, just a few miles away in Indiana), but law enforcement, in general, took a dim view of such information in civilian hands. Vickie had been to a few protests where the organizers used those apps fairly effectively.

"We will want to be careful, but as long as we keep on the down-low, the cops and the feds might not be breaking down our doors- Stingrays aside, they still only have so many people, and so many resources- unless we make ourselves a problem, they can find plenty of other moles to whack. I hope, anyway..."

"Connections are always good," agrees Khemis. "Allah only knows where I would be now without the support I had after I woke as I am now."

"I like your idea of using a police scanner app too. I hadn't thought of that. But it might be the best way to keep our ears to the ground..."

"I also hope we can keep ourselves off the authorities radar. There certainly are enough other problems out there for them! I pray we - or someone - can avert any rabid anti-Sunstormer feeling out there before any knee-jerk laws against us get passed that just make things worse or drive us underground..."

"So..." continues Khemis, looking around at the others. "If we're planning on working together, maybe we should tell each other about our powers? At least if people are comfortable with that? Maybe we'll have ideas about each others powers that the person with the powers hasn't thought of? Or maybe there are synergies between our powers that we can come up with?"

"I'll start."

"I'm very strong now, I can lift maybe six tons. I can stretch, and leap a long way, which I think is just a side effect of being super-strong. I can see even in total darkness. And I no longer need to breathe, or eat and drink, or sleep, and the cold doesn't bother me any more. I heal really quickly too; even from things like being shot through the head! I also seem to be more perceptive than I was before."

"...I'm not even going to ask how you know you can heal from that. But from what I'm getting, you're basically a discount Inque from Batman Beyond, only nowhere as fluid nor capable of shapeshifting, with a dash of Mr. Fantastic stretchy-ness. Cool, I can dig it." Sunny nodded, parsing out the pertinent information.

He crossed his arms, sighing. "I don't think it's a real secret what I'm capable of. I mean, it should be pretty obvious from my display earlier today - I'm a Flying Brick. A typical F.I.S.S. if you will."

"Not all of us are fans of the genre," Deborah says. "Can you put that in non-comicbook terms? As for my new abilities, you know I can speak in other people's minds. I can read people's thoughts. And I can influence thoughts, though I have really done that very much. I can move things with my mind. I can even lift myself off the ground if I concentrate on it. I can't move very fast through the air. Not like I've seen some of you go."

Sunny blinked, a momentary pause in his train of thought. "Oh. Right. Sorry about that - I thought Marvel's successes had spread more geeky lingo into public consciousness than it seems to have. Which is unfortunate because you're a dead ringer for Jean Grey... minus the Phoenix. I mean, you've got the red hair and the psychic powers of telepathy and telekinesis. Only difference seems to be that you're more adept at telepathy than telekinesis, while Jean was the opposite, early on. I'd really recommend finding some X-Men comics... or watching the cartoons, you might get the inspiration for a trick or two from them."

"But as for me, well, my powers are pretty simple and not as flashy as the rest of yours: I'm super-strong, super-tough, super-fast and can fly. They're a bit... simple by comparison to you three's, to be honest. On the upside, I'm actually bullet-proof, so... pros and cons, I suppose." Sunny shrugged, a little abashed and awkward about having to explain his own powers - it felt like a job interview where he had to sell himself to a recruiter for employment and brag about his skills and accomplishments. Problem was that Sunny didn't like to brag about himself because it was always felt like (deserved) arrogance to do so, and the awkwardness of trying to do so anyway resulted in a slight flush of embarrassment.

"No problem," Deborah says. "I'm sure those films will get an extra boost for a short time. And then their popularity will fade since real people can do that stuff."

"I'm not a version of some fictional character I never heard of before this week - discount or not - thank you very much!" replies Khemis, both insulted and annoyed. "Are you a discount Superman? No, you are 'Peter Kent'. And I'll thank you to give me the same courtesy. I am as Allah has made me, and that is that."

"As for the other thing, I know I can heal from being shot through the head because I did, thanks to some gang members. There's even a video on Youtube..."

"Thus leading to the inevitable Sunstormer reality TV shows..." chips in a deadpan Khemis.

Vickie Pulaski (Charger)

Vickie looked on with what might have been amusement, or simply indecision, as the others said what they had to say. "Well, on the plus side, she seems more like Jean Grey than Emma Frost," she said, with a nod towards Deborah- she had followed Sunny's references and geek-speak well enough. "I'm still figuring out what I can do- and how I can do it. I certainly haven't gotten into any situations like getting shot at, or anything like that- at least not yet... I mean, obviously I can fly- I'm really maneuverable, and I can fly really fast if I put some effort into it. I'm not sure how fast exactly, I haven't really tested my absolute limits, but I can definitely break the sound barrier- at least I did THAT out over the lake where I didn't break anything. I can also move stuff around, at least fairly close to me, anyway. I pretty sure that I'm absorbing and redirecting kinetic energy at some level- I mean, I've been digging into some basic physics and stuff, but it is hard to explain, hard to understand on a rational, quantifiable level. So much of it is instinctive- trying to break it down feels kind of like explaining colors to someone who has been blind since birth, or explaining a thunderstorm to your cat..."
